Black and White Challenge

Hello crafty friends!
Today I have another Eureka! Stamps Challenge
For more details check out
For my card I used 2 different images from
"Heart Background" (#57901) and
"Lg Knot Heart" (#58801)

I stamped both the image onto black card stock with Versa Mark ink
then heat embossed them with white embossing powder.
The Large Knot Heart was fussy cut, adhered to white card stock and fussy cut again.
The Heart Background was cut into a strip and adhered to white card stock then adhered directly to the card.
The Knot heart was adhered with foam tape.

I hope you'll take a moment to check out the other inspiration pieces on the Eureka! Stamps Blog,
then create something of your own for the challenge.
Thanks for stopping by today.
Come again soon.

Until next time, Happy Crafting!

but it also comes in digital format.

Layouts

Hello blog friends!
I thought I'd share a few layouts that I have done recently.
One of my scrappy friends challenge our group of scrappers to do something that was outside of our comfort zone.
These first 2 pictures are just that.
The first one wasn't so hard, but the 2nd one was a whole other story.

This layout is long over due!
I took this picture of Dave on our first date.
Dave hadn't had his camera for more than a few months,
he wanted to get out and try it out, so we went to the
"Alabama Swamps"
This isn't in Alabama at all, but not far from where we live
in Western New York State.
When my friend, Jen looked at it she asked
"Where's Kristie?"
My answer, "Well, he didn't take any pictures of me."
Guess he didn't know that this was the start of something big.
Not only our relationship, but also his becoming a photographer.

These 2 pages were very tough for me and were totally
out of my comfort zone. (Sorry about that glare!)
I have a problem using just one picture on a page and this was no exception.  I hemmed and hawed over these pages.
Finally, Jen, that same friend told me that I should leave it like it is.
That they looked great.
So I did.  It was so hard to not fill up that empty space!
You can see I'm a bit behind in my scrapping,
Kelsie was 6 in this picture and she is 23 now.
Jaryd was about 4 and is now 20.
These are a couple of my favorite pictures of our kids.

When my family gets together for Christmas,
I try to get a picture of all the great grandchildren together.
Of course since there were 7 of them, I had to take a bunch of pictures.
I don't think there is a one with all of them smiling and looking at the camera.  In fact I know there isn't, but they are all so darn cute!
"Aunt Kristie and The Greats"
Every Christmas I take a picture of myself with each of the Greats.
That's what I call my great nieces and nephews.
There is another one, Sienna, who wasn't at that
Backstrom Family Christmas.
She was only a matter of months at that time
and was with her Mom at her family Christmas.

Well, that's it for now.
I hope you have enjoyed seeing a few of my layouts.
What is outside your comfort zone?
Why don't you take the challenge and create something
outside the box?
I did it, you can too.

Thanks for stopping by today.
Leave me a comment and let me know what is outside your comfort zone.
Come again soon.

Until next time, Happy Crafting!

For the Boys Eureka Challenge #

"For the Boys"
is the theme of this weeks
Eureka! Stamps Challenge
I used
 "Roars with fun" (digi15107)
This sentiment comes in red rubber also.
I made this very simple on the front.
Then you open it and this guy is inside!

How fun is this card for a little boy as a birthday card?!?

I hope you have been inspired to join in the challenge.
For all the details, hop over to the
There will be plenty more inspiration there too.
Thanks for stopping by, come again soon.

I cherish our friendship

Hello!
I made this card a while ago and never shared it.
It is made with
"Lg Best Friends Sitting" (#5906) and
"I cherish" (digi#24605)
both from Eureka! Stamps

The friends were stamped onto white card stock
and colored with water color crayons.
Then fussy cut and adhered to the blue background paper.

I simply printed the sentiment, trimmed it and adhered it to the inside of the card.
I thought this card was particularly appropriate as tomorrow
April 13th is Krop 4 Kids 2013.
This is a big fundraiser for a couple fabulous causes.
We will be having a 12 hr scrapbooking event to raise money to support
The NICU Parent Scrapbooking Group
at Mercy Children's Hospital in Toledo, Ohio.
This group was started and run by my good friend, Mary.
It is a totally self funded group, no monies come from the hospital and the families of the babies in the NICU are able to scrapbook their baby's journey through the NICU at no cost.
The other cause we support is a new one.
It is the John T. Schaeufele Asthma Camp Scholarship Fund
John was Mary's husband, we lost him October 19, 2011.
This scholarship fund helps to send children with asthma to camp.
Camp Michi-Mac gives these children a chance to experience camp as any other child does.  They provide doctors, nurses, respiratory therapist, pharmacists and more to help these children learn about and control their asthma.
Half our proceeds will go to the NICU group and half to
 John's Scholarship Fund.

Mary and I met online on a scrapbooking board several years ago.
The first year that they had Krop 4 Kids, my daughter, Kelsie, and I attended as scrapbookers.  That was in 2007.
The next year, I was asked to join the committee and I've been on ever since and Mary and I have become like sisters.
I value her friendship and that of the other gals on the K4K committee.

Thanks for stopping by today.  If you have any questions about our fundraiser or would be interested in attending our next event, please don't hesitate to ask.

Until next time, Happy Crafting!

I love this feather!

When I made the card that I showed you a couple weeks ago
with the feathers, I didn't use all the feathers that I had stamped.
This one was left over,
so I colored it, fussy cut it and used it on this card.
This is "Feather on Side" (#6303) and
"Just a note" (#6405) are both from Eureka! Stamps.
For the sky background,
I punched scalloped circle from a scrap of card stock.
I laid the circle onto white card stock and inked over it with Distress Ink.
I moved the circle randomly around the card stock piece
 and continued to ink until
I had a beautiful sky with clouds.
This is a very simple technique and makes a lovely background.

I hope you have been inspired, maybe you'll try making a sky for a card using this technique.
Leave me a comment if you will and feel free to ask questions if you have them.
Thanks for stopping by today!

Tea for Two

Hello crafty friends!
Today we have a new challenge on the Eureka! Stamps Blog
This weeks challenge theme is
Tea for Two.
I chose to use Lg. Teapot (#11702) from

I stamped the image with Versa Fine black onyx ink and
colored it with water color crayons.
I used a border punch to make the slits for the ribbon to thread through.
The image was fussy cut and adhered to the front panel with foam tape.

Thanks for stopping by today to see what I've created.
I hope you have been inspired in some way and will
join in the fun of the challenge.

Fern Background

Hello!
Last week I posted a card using this same
"Fern Background" (#58401) from
Today I'm showing you another card using it.
This time I stamped onto a piece of patterned paper.
I thought the pattern worked well with the ferns.
It's so easy to change the look by using a patterned paper.
Inside I used
"Thinking of you" (#7706)
also from Eureka! Stamps

A lovely card that can be made very quickly and easily.

Thanks for stopping today, I hope you'll come again soon.
Leave a comment if you will, I'd love to hear what you think.

Until next time, Happy Crafting!

Circles and Stripes Challenge #33

Hello blog friends!
It's time for another Eureka! Stamps Challenge.
For the particulars about how to play along, go to
This weeks challenge is
 "Circles and Stripes"
I used some striped paper and punched circles for my card.
I simply layered the circles and added the flower and butterflies.

My card opens to a little box that contains the sentiment.
I used
"Sunshine Day" (#15003)

I stamped the sentiment onto white card stock and used
FlexMarkers to color the little flowers.

Thanks for stopping by today.
I hope you will join the challenge and let us see what you create.
