Mittens

Good day friends!
I know it's getting late in the season to be
making mittens, but I wanted to share these with
you. I love this pattern for crocheted mittens
and have made many pairs over the years.
They are made with worsted weight yarn.
This pair I made crocheting into the back
loop only to give the ridged pattern.
I've never done this before.
I also single crocheted them together along
the edges.
These two pair I made the way I usually crochet them.
I crocheted into each full stitch and sewed the edges
together.  I prefer this without the ridges.
It's all a personal preference.
What I love about these mittens is that they are
a little smaller at the wrist and then are long
enough to be tucked up your sleeve and
you don't get a gap between your sleeve and your
mitten.
I have made them in the past and made them double thick.
I make 2 pair and put one inside the other and stitch them
together at the opening.  They are very heavy and warm
when I do this.  But they are really warm making them
with a single layer too.
If you are interested in the pattern for these mittens
e-mail me at Mamamaynard55@hotmail.com and
I will e-mail you the pattern.
Also please comment to let me know you are
e-mailing me.

Thanks for stopping by today,
I hope you have enjoyed your time here
and will come again soon.
Until then;
plan ahead, make some mittens for
next winter.

Swimming Layout

Hello crafty people!
Today I have a layout I'd like to share with you.
My son and daughter in law lived in an apartment complex
that has a pool.  Last summer, Marie had a ball going
swimming.
We all had our turn taking her in the pool and
it was so much fun.  Sara got her the cutest bathing
suits, my favorite one was the one that was a mermaid.  She was so
darn cute in it.  One of the days when G-Pa was swimming with
her, he took them out for lunch afterward.
Marie got that HUGE Mickey pancake,
she cried when it wasn't Mickey anymore.
But she did enjoy eating it too.
Now they have bought their own house, with no
pool.  Guess they'll have to visit my brother's house
more often this summer, he has an in-ground pool.

Thanks for stopping today and having a little look see
at what I've been up to.
Come again soon.
Until then,
have fun with a child.

Selfies and Birthday

Good day everyone!
Today I have a scrapbook layout to share with y'all.
My granddaughter, Marie, and Uncle Brad, my future son in law,
have a wonderful relationship.  So when Marie wanted to take
pictures, Brad was all in.
The other page is from Jaryd's birthday dinner.
We had a great time, as we always do when family
gets together.  After dinner we played
Throw Throw Burrito
which is a game he got from Kelsie.
Crazy game, but we had a lot of fun.

Thanks for stopping by today,
I hope you'll stop again soon.
Until then,
have some fun with your family,
play a game, celebrate something,
take some selfies.

Blueberry Picking

Hey there blog fans!
Thought I'd bring some more summer into your
day with these layouts.
My kids went blueberry picking and had
a fabulous time.  These are the layouts I did of
their fun day together.
These are of Jaryd, Sara and Marie,
what a beautiful day they had.
Auntie Kelsie was along too and they happened to
run into their friend Scotty who got them
pizza for lunch.
Marie sure was loving the blueberries.
Here's a close up of the little basket of
blueberries that I made.
I wove pieces of card stock together, cut it
into the shape I wanted and inked it a bit to
give it a little definition.
The blueberries were punched from a couple
different colors of card stock
and had a bit of shine added
with white pen.
And a little pizza I made from paper I had in my
stash.  Never know when you'll be able to use
a random piece of pizza paper.
They also went to a pick your own flower farm.
The flowers were so beautiful.
All in all they had a fun day and I loved
making these layouts.

Thanks for stopping for a visit,
come again soon.
Until then,
enjoy your family.

From Curtains to Apron

Hello, welcome!
Last year I won these curtains in a basket at a
basket auction.  I don't even remember putting a ticket
into that drawing, but here they are.
They have been sitting in my craft room all this time
and I did have an idea that I would make an apron from
them, so I finally did.
A couple days before Christmas I just decided to do it.
So I had hubby get my sewing machine out for me
and I set to work and just flew by the seat of my
pants and made it up as I went.
It took me less than an hour to put this together
and I'm very happy with how it turned out.
This is a mini apron for my 2yr old granddaughter.
She loves to cook and bake.
I plan to make another one for her so she'll have one at
home and one here.
I think there will be enough fabric for a
couple more adult sized aprons too.
This is one of the aprons she usually uses when
she is here.  This one was my Mom's and when I
was little I had a matching one.  I'm hoping I can
find mine around here somewhere.
But if not, hopefully, I'll get one made to match
the one I made her for Christmas.
Here is my little baker in her apron.
Here she is guarding the oven that was baking
the cinnamon rolls she made with Mommy.

Thanks for popping in to visit,
I hope you've been inspired in some way.
Come again soon.
Until then,
create something to reuse some materials in
a different way.

Happies the Jellyfish

Welcome to my blog!
Last week I posted a unicorn I made from the
pattern in this book.  Today I have another animal to
show you.

This time I made Junior the Jellyfish.
He was quick and easy to make and
again I took creative license and made him
in the colors I had on hand.
I think he turned out pretty darn cute.
My granddaughter, Marie, loved him and
named him Happies.  I'm sure that had to do
with the smile on his face.
I hope you like my little critter
and will think about giving something
like this a try.
Now to decide which animal to make next
I hope you'll come again soon for a visit
and see what else I've been up to.
Until then,
smile and be happy!
