Aprons for Asher

Welcome all you crafty people!
Today I have a couple aprons to show you.
I was Christmas shopping at a Handmade's store
in Ohio and saw aprons made from men's shirts.
Unfortunately, they didn't have any kids sized ones.
My friends laughed when I said, guess I'll have to make
it myself, but that's just what I intended to do.
Later in my visit, we visited a Goodwill store and
I found 2 boys shirts.  Asher is a 2T right now, so I wanted
a larger size.  These were the only 2 button up shirts they had
in sizes that would work.
I found this video on YouTube on how to make an
apron from a man's shirt and followed the process, it's just
on a smaller scale.
I love that this shirt even had a breast pocket on it.
This shirt was actually a pajama shirt, but it's perfect for an
apron.  I was gathering up the scraps and realized that
the cuff of the sleeve would make a perfect pocket.
So I salvaged that and added a pocket to the apron.
I always love a pocket on my aprons, so figured it would be
a good thing for Asher too.
I gave him both these aprons for Christmas, one for home and one
for G-Ma's house.  Both the kids love to cook and bake with me,
Marie has her own aprons, so I figured Asher should too.
One very convenient thing is that all I need to do
to fit it over his head is open a button or two.
No playing around with trying to get the neck strap at
the right length and it has great coverage.
Here are a few pictures of Asher, in his apron
while helping me make mac and cheese for dinner.
Isn't he the cutest cook ever?
He loves that there is a pocket in his apron too.
He's always happy to cook with G-Ma.

Thanks for stopping in today.
I hope you will come again soon.
Until then,
check out a new project on YouTube and
give it a try.
