Warm Wishes

Hello crafty friends!  I have a lot of blogs listed in my favorties and I follow quite a few of them on a regular basis.  One of my favorties is Kristina Werner.  I can not tell you how fabulous I think she is.  If you have never seen her videos, you should go check her out!  I get so much inspiration from her!

Today's card is one that was inspired by one she did in her recent Holiday Card Series.  She did a holiday card a day for 25 days, each one with a video.  Wonderful series!  You can still go check them out and she always posts on Monday and Fridays each week.

Now on to my card!

The base of this card is 4.25" x 11" scored at 5.5"  I used papers from my scrap stash for this card.  I don't believe any of the papers are from the same companies, and I really can't even tell you what companies they are from.  Sorry, I'm so bad about knowing that info!

I cut strips of paper and layered them onto the Kraft card stock.  I use an EKSuccess border punch for the scallops on the green paper.

The sentiment is one I have in my stamp stash and have no idea where it even came from.  LOL! Told you I am bad at info!

The embellishment at the right was made by cutting some wonky circles, crumpling them, layering them and putting a brad through the center.  I then put it onto the card with a Pop Up Glue Dot.

I added the dash lines with white gel pen, rounded the corners with my

Corner Chomper and had a nice little card in no time.

Ice Skating

Hello bloggers!  Today I have a card I created with an adorable stamp from QKR Stampede called Ice Skating (#7902) I think penguins are just so cute.  Petting a penguin is one of the things on my bucket list and one day I will pet one.  But enough about that, on to the card.

I started with a piece of white card stock and stamped "Ice Skating" with

Black Onyx Versafine ink.  We all know that is my favorite ink to work with. I colored him in with water color pencils, then fussy cut the image. 

The card base is cut  4.25" x 11" and scored at 5.5" and is also white card stock.  I used Faded Jeans Distress Ink to ink around the outside of the front of the card, using a foam pad.

I then used Glossy Accents and spread it over the bottom of the card front to give it the look of ice.  I also used the Glossy Accents on the blades of the skates.

I used foam tape to adhere the penguin to the card front to give it dimension, which, unfortunately, doesn't show in the picture.

The sentiment was printed from my computer before I started the rest of the card. I love using the computer for sentiments that I don't have a stamp for. Easy as can be.

Take That!!!!

Welcome!  I'd like to share a card with you today, that I made for a really special guy.  My lovely niece, Nicole has a wonderful fiance, Dave.  He was diagnosed not too long ago with brain cancer for the second time and has been undergoing quite a lot of therapy to be rid of it.  He's gonna beat this thing!!! I saw a card that was sent to a blogger friend, Monique, (she is fighting breast cancer) that gave me this idea. 

In his own words, Dave is a dork where it comes to comic books.  He loves them and when I saw the card that Monique had recieved similar to this one, I knew I had to make one for Dave. 

To make it, I found a Superman symbol and printed it out to make a template. I traced the template onto red card stock,  then cut it out and layered it onto yellow card stock.  This, I adhered to blue card stock which was then adhered to a Kraft colored A-2 sized card that I folded to make an easel card.

I hand wrote the ZAP and colored it in with a black Zig pen, I used red and blue to outline the 'starburst'.  Once it was cut and adhered to the blue and red card stock I used foam adhesive to place it on the card. 

I printed the 'sentiment' from the computer onto white card stock. I also added a piece of white card stock to the inside of the card to write my own sentiment.

I hope Dave enjoys this card as much as I enjoyed making it for him.  I just wanted him to know I'm thinking about him and I know he is kicking cancer's butt.  To me he is a real Superman!  He is fighting a very tough fight and is going to win!

Wish

Hello crafty friends!  Today I'm showing you a card I made trying a couple techniques that I'd never tried before.  And I must say, I like the results!

I started with a piece of white card stock.  First I stamped the image onto the card stock with Black Onyx Versa Fine ink, I then stamped over it, using my Stampamajig, with Versa Mark.  I then embossed it with clear embossing powder.

Next I used Distress Ink on foam pads to color the sky.  First, I used lavender, then two shades of blue.  I then buffed the embossed impression with a cloth to take the extra ink off that area.  I used the Black ink directly to the paper at the bottom of the cardstock where the edge was white.   

I love how there are some areas that didn't match up exactly when I did the 2nd stamping with the VersaMark, causing some bits of white to show through making it look like the moonlight shining on the trees and snow on the ground.

Finally, I used black embossing powder to emboss 'Wish' onto the card front.  I then layered onto white card stock, then a blue A-2 card base. 

I really love how this turned out and I'm sure I will be using these inking and embossing techniques again.

Week 47 Challenge for Polkadoodles

"The Children were nestled all snug in their beds, while visions of sugar plums danced in their heads"  This is the line of the poem  'Twas the Night Before Christmas that inspired this card for the challenge on the Polkadoodles Blog.

I started with a marbalized piece of card stock that I made with Smooch and water.  I love the swirls, as they reminded me of "dreamland"  The bed was a die cut that I had in my stash.  I made the little girl's head and hair with a circle punch, cutting away part of the brown to make it into her hair, then drew the closed eye on with a Zig pen.

The candies were printed from the Polkadoodles Jingle Jangle Christmas CD, then fussy cut for the card.  Everything was adhered to the marbalized card stock and then layered onto a dark blue A-2 sized card base.

For the inside of the card, I printed the candy border from the same Polkadoodles CD, trimmed them down and adhered them to white card stock and used my ATG Tape gun to layer it inside the card.

Santa Snowman

Ho Ho Ho to all of you!  Today I am showing you a card I created with the Santa Snowman (#16704) image from QKR Stampede.  Is he cute or what?

I stamped him onto white card stock and colored the image with water color pencils.  I added a bit of Diamond Stickles to the hat and red onto the berries to give it a some dimension and sparkle. 

The image was adhered to red card stock and then layered onto white card stock.  The sentiment is a sticker from a set that I found at The Christmas Tree Shop for only $.50, what a deal!

This card measures 3 1/4" x 5 1/2" so it isn't a standard size, but it will fit into an A-2 envelope. 

Here is a tip, when mailing an off size card in an A-2 envelope, take small pieces of foam tape and put them into the bottom of the envelope, making sure that the card will still fit into the envelope properly.  With this bit of foam tape in the bottom of the envelope the card is sitting at the top when the envelope is opened.  This same technique can be used when a card is not as wide as the envelope, simply put the foam tape along the sides of the envelope.

Polkadoodles Challenge

Hello everyone!  Today I'm posting a card that I made for the Week 47 Challenge - 'Twas The Night Before Christmas on the Polkadoodles Blog.  The challenge was to make the card with the theme "Twas The Night Before Christmas" by Clement C. Moore.  I chose the line "The moon on the breast of the new fallen snow, gave luster of mid-day to objects below"  In this case the objects below were the "8 tiny reindeer"

                          

The riendeer are from the Polkadoodles Jingle Jangle Christmas CD.  I sized and printed and trimmed the border, adhered it to white card stock and then to the dark blue card stock. 

I used Versa Mark and silver metallic embossing powder for the 'dream' and snowflakes and heat embossed them.  I did the dash lines with a Versa Mark pen and embossed them also.
