Cards for Card Drive #6

Hi friends!

Can you believe it's December and Christmas

is right around the corner?

Here are a few more cards for the 

Caring Hearts Card Drive.

I've said it before and I'll say it again,

I love heat embossing.

When I apply the heat to that powder and it melts

and turns all shiny and pretty, I just have to smile.

If you've never heat embossed you really should

try it, it's kind of like magic to watch.

I love this image from 

Eureka Stamps 

and it works perfectly with heat embossing.

I heat embossed with silver powder and then matted with a 

shiny silver mat.

I got the silver card stock at 

Hollo's PaperCraft

It's located in Ohio, near Cleveland and

if you can get there, it's worth the trip.

If you're a papercrafter, it's like

Heaven being there.

I used several different colors of card bases for these

cards and I love how they turned out, very simple

and elegant.

I uses an embossing folder to emboss the bottom of this

card, then added the top in black with the silver heat 

embossed sentiment.

I used gold Stickles to put some stars in the sky.

This is the sentiment that I used in all of my cards

for the card drive.
I think it's simple and beautiful.

Cards for the Card Drive #4

Hi all you bloggy friends.

Today I have cards that I used a wreath embossing folder

to make.

I started out by testing out the embossing folder to 

see how it fit on the front of a card.

Thus I had this white embossed piece,

so I decided to color it.

I just got this Merry Christmas die

from Impression Obsession,

in the mail, so decided to use that for the 

sentiment.

Most of the cards I used this lovely shimmery

green card stock for the front panel of the card.

I used some Stickles on the berries.

This is one that I made with a regular green

card stock.

As you can see, I made a 'few' of these.

Love how they turned out.

Cards for the Card Drive #3

Hello!

More cards for the card drive today

You can see that I love heat embossing.

I heat embossed several ornament images with

silver embossing powder and went from there.

I created several different cards with these 

embossed images.

The center one above was fussy cute and adhered

to an embossed card base with foam tape.

The others were matted with card stock and adhered

to embossed silver card stock.

This one has Washi tape on the sides and 

although it doesn't show very well, there are

dots of red Stickles around the ornament.

For these I used silver thread and embroidery floss

to add bows.

I like the long skinny ornament at the side of these cards.

A little Washi tape adds a pop of color.

For my post today,

I'm sharing a layout that I made of my daughter's 1st Christmas. 

You can see I'm a bit behind on my scrapbooking,

since she is now 22 yrs old.

I have just started to use digital images recently and this is one of the first ones that I have used.  I have to say that I really loved working with this digi stamp.  I could adjust it to the size I wanted for my layout, I used Flexmarkers (alcohol ink markers) and the printed image didn't smudge at all.

The rest of the images I used on this layout were done with unmounted red rubber stamps.  They are all from QKR Stampede.

"Decorations" (#9411)

Colored with FlexMarkers, the ornament is covered with Glossy Accents

"Pine Sprig" (#15702)

Colored with FlexMarkers and the bells were also covered with Stickles.

"Holly" (#15071)

Colored with FlexMarkers, bling was added for the berries.

I didn't have red bling, so I used a FlexMarker to color them.

I hope you have been inspired to use some stamping on your layouts. 

They can add so much and make wonderful embellishments.

Elf

Hello crafters!

How fun it this little guy?

I made this card with

"Elf" (#18904) from QKR Stampede

I used FlexMarkers to color the image.

I added a bit of Stickles and Glossy Accents

 to give it some sparkle and shine.

This little guy will be headed to someone this Christmas.

He is just such a happy little guy

and I hope he will give someone a smile.

 

There are lots of wonderful images in the QKR Stampede store,

so why not pop over and take a look.

Package Tower

Merry Christmas?!?!?!

Yes!  I'm at it again, making Christmas cards.

Today's card is made with

"Package Tower" (#23301) from Eureka! Stamps

I colored this image with FlexMarkers.

I also used a bit of Stickles and Glossy Accents to give some shine, shimmer and sparkle.

The bow is made with some wonderful satin ribbon from May Arts.

I think it adds just the right touch and "wraps up" this card perfectly.

Folded star card

Hi crafty people!

Today I have something a little different for you.

I saw this folded star card on

Sue's Rubber Stamping Adventures 

and just had to try it.

I must say, I love how it turned out.

 

On the inside I stamped and colored this adorable snowman from Stampendous.  I was lucky enough to win him from Kristine at

Stamping and Scrapping in California

I colored the image with FlexMarkers and covered the snowman in Stickles.

Can't have a snowman that doesn't sparkle now can we?

I hope you like my card and will take a look at the blogs of the 2 ladies that inspired me to make this card.  They really are quite amazing.

Today I'm showing you a card I made using 2 images from

Biblical Impressions.

"Round Ornament" (#83405) and

"Icicle Ornament" (#83406)

Simon Says Stamp & Show

has a weekly challenge and this weeks is

"Read all about it"

 One of my favorite techniques is to stamp onto pages of old books,

so this was right up my alley. 

And since my crafting room is finally finished with the re-do,

I spent some time last night playing around in there.

I colored the images with FlexMarkers then used Distress ink , crumpled the page a little but and used a little more Distress ink. 

I wanted a bit of a vintage feel and I think I got it.

Stickles were added for a little sparkle and shine.

I used a silver card stock for a mat.

I used the same Distress ink on a white card stock base, then used VersaFine ink to stamp the tree needles from the top of the "round ornament" onto the base.

QKR Stampede July Blog Hop

Hello and welcome to my blog!

Today is the first QKR Stampede Blog Hop with the new

Design Team Ladies. 

I'm pleased to be joining them for this hop

and welcoming them all to the team. 

Although I'm not a "full" team member,

I will be joining them from time to time for hops.

I will also be posting projects made with my QKR images here on my blog and from time to time on the QKR company blog.

If you have just happened upon the hop, you will want to start at the beginning.  I know you won't want to miss meeting any of these talented ladies and seeing what they have to inspire you.

This month for our intro hop the theme is "anything goes" so I have decided to show you one of the Christmas cards I've made.

(I'm trying to get done early this year.)

Sorry for the poor photo, the cardstock is foiled and even without the flash it has a glare. 

I know it looks kind of plain, but when you open those little windows,

that's when you see the best part of the card.

The images I have used are available through QKR Stampede as well as our sister company Eureka! Stamps.

"Christmas Balloon" (#ES16402)

was used for the first window.  I stamped it onto white cardstock and colored it with FlexMarkers, then covered it with Glossy Accents.

"Reindeer Balloon" (#ES2606)

was used for the second window.

Again, colored with FlexMarkers

 and a bit of Glossy Accents used on his bells and nose.

Snowman Balloon (#ES11805)

was used for the third window.

He was colored with FlexMarkers and covered with Stickles.

Best Friends Embossed

Today's card is another Tim Holtz inspiration.  I love this technique of embossing clear plastic.  Again, I used a piece of laminating film, but could just as well have used some recycled packaging. I embossed it with my Cuttlebug and the Snowflakes Embossing folder.

The image is from QKR Stampede and is titled Best Friends (#23502) I stamped it onto white card stock and colored it with water color crayons.  I used Icicle Stickles to give the snowman some nice sparkle.  I love the Icicle Stickles, depending on the light and angle, they show up different colors.  Sometimes blue, sometimes purple or pink.

I layered the image onto a piece of scrap pink paper from my scrap stash, then attached the embossed laminating film to it with pink brads.

This was then adhered to a blue card base with ATG Tape.  I love the look of the embossed snowflakes over the image!  What do you think?  Leave me a comment and let me know.

Gift card holders ~ Polkadoodles Week 49 challenge

Joys of the season to you all!  Today I'm showing you a couple gift card holders that I made for Christmas gifts.  They are for the same person, just from different people.

 This first one is one that I made for my Mom to give to her bestest friend in the world, Aunt Marilyn!  They have been friends since they met in 4th grade and since they are 85 & 86 yrs old, you can see they have been friends for a VERY long time.  The image is from QKR Stampede and titled In the Manger (#16701)

I stamped the image onto kraft card stock and colored it with water color crayons, trimmed it out, rounded the corners and used foam tape to attach it to the front of the card holder.

 The inside of the holder is stamped with the word Rejoice, which I think goes very well with the Christ Child on the front. 

The holder itself was very simple to make.  If you are interested in making one yourself, there is a video tutorial here. 

Now on to my 2nd holder.  Aunt Marilyn lives in North Carolina and loves to take herself out for quick lunches.  She goes walking and then stops someplace for a quick and inexpensive lunch.  A few years ago I started sending her gift cards for Christmas, to a variety of fast food restaurants.  This year I saw this idea on one of my favorite blogs, Going Buggy, and decided this would be perfect for Aunt Marilyn.

 This cute little gift card book is made with toilet paper tubes.  First, I flattened them, then I covered them with papers from a DCWV Christmas Stack.  I had forgotten that I had this 6x6 stack and I'm so glad I found it.  The papers are adorable.  I'm pretty sure this stack has been discontinued as it has been in my stash for a couple years.

I then used my Bind It All to make them into a little book.

Each "page" has it's own tag with a gift card or certificate on the back of it.

The first tag is covered with paper from the same paper stack and says Merry Christmas. All the others I used QKR Stampede images that were stamped onto kraft card stock. 

The Santa is Santa Snowman (#16704) and was colored with water color pencils. I used Liquid Pearls on his beard, hair and the fur on his hat to make them a nice shimmery white. 

The next tag is Pine Sprig (#15702) was colored with water color pencils, I used gold Stickles on the bells. 

Holly (#15701) was used for the next tag, colored with water color pencils again and red Stickles were used on the berries. 

This picture shows where I used the Liquid Pearls and Stickles.

The last image I used was Trees (#21704), this one I stamped with Moss Green VersaFine ink and used a white gel pen to add the 'snow' to the image. 

I then added an eyelet to the top of each tag, using my Crop-a-dile.  Then threaded a ribbon through it and added the gift card or certificate to the back.  The gift cards I attached with a small amount of ATG tape.  For the gift certificate, I attached a loop of ribbon to the back of the tag, folded the certificate and slid it under the ribbon.

I know Aunt Marilyn will enjoy the gift cards and certificate and I'm pretty sure she will like the little book I made to send them to her in.

Christmas Placemat

Hello blogger friends!  Today I'm showing you a place mat that I embellished.  I bought a few of these place mats from "The Christmas Tree Shop"  for $1.00 each, for the purpose of seeing what I could do with them to alter them a bit.  Below you can see what I am doing with them.   

We will be having an Open House for our business this weekend will be serving some yummy cookies and warm spiced cider.  I plan to use the mat with one of my favorite Christmas dishes to serve the cookies.

Here is a close up of the embellishing I did.  I used the Holly stamp (#15701) from QKR Stampede and stamped it with Versa Fine Black Onyx ink.  I then used Keepsake Colors Fresh Foliage Gel Paint to paint the leaves green.  I have had this paint for quite a while, got it on clearance, but had never tried it.  The label says for "Scrapbooking and Photo Tinting", but I figured I would give it a try.  Let me just say that a little goes a very long way.  It does tend to bleed, so you need to be very careful to only use a small amount on your brush and start in the center of the image, but using just a tiny bit at a time, worked very well. 

I used Stickles on the berries and that gave it a bit of sparkle and pop.

I have been experimenting with different kinds of inks and paints and will be making more of these embellished place mats.  I'll post more when I get them done.

"Snow in Love"

"Snow in Love" was created with the Snowman Couple image from

QKR Stampede.  I think this image is snow sweet (pun intended)  I started by stamping it onto white card stock and coloring it with water color crayons.  I then added glitter to the snow couple by using a glue pen, then covering it with stamping glitter.  I fussy cut the image and used foam tape to adhere it to the patterned paper that I got from my never ending scrap stash.  It was then adhered with ATG tape to the white card stock base.  I added a felt snowflake in the corner and glittered it up with some Stickles, rounded all the coners with my Corner Chomper and I was done.

I left the inside of this card blank so a sentiment or note can be added at a later date.
