My Christmas Cards

Hello everyone!

Today I'd like to show you my Christmas cards.

I was having a difficult time figuring out what to 

do for my Christmas cards this year.

Nothing seemed to be clicking,

then, as often happens, an idea struck.

And what a messy idea it was!

I had seen the Altenew Burlap Texture Die on

several videos and finally picked it up.

I decided on a design and got to work.

What a mess I made, but it was so worth it!

I used an embossing folder from my stash

and embossed the backgrounds.

Then I found a tree in my library of my 

Silhouette Design Studio software and

cut them out with my Silhouette Cameo.

I used glitter card stock for the trees, but the glitter

doesn't show up well in the pictures.

Once I had all the pieces ready, I 

assembled the cards.
Gluing down that burlap piece was a little

tricky, then I got the idea to brush the back

with glue and a foam brush and it worked

like a charm.

I used the scraps of the gold vellum from the

burlap pieces to punch out the stars, glued them

on and the card fronts were done.

Inside I stamped this sentiment

Now my cards were finished!
I love how they turned out, 

a little different than anything I've done 

before, yet they are still 
"really me"

Daisy Card

Hello blog fans!
Recently I saw this video on Jennifer McGuire's
blog and had to give this technique a try.
Mine didn't turn out nearly as beautiful as hers did,
but it was my first try and think it turned out nice.

The idea is to stamp, color and cut up a piece and
add it to the front of a card.  There are several ways
she shows in her video that I linked to above
and they all are beautiful.
I just wanted to try the simplest one,
so I cut my stamped piece and added
the pieces to a card base with foam tape.
I used the Daisy Thanks stamp set from
Stampendous.
For the sentiment I used
Simon Says Stamp Tiny Words

Birthdays

Hello!

I hope you are having a good day.

Today I'm showing you a few birthday cards that I made.

These 2 were made with one of my favorite stamps.

I used 3101AA POPPIES from Stacy Stamps.

Stamped them onto white card stock with 

Onyx Black Versa Fine Ink and colored them

with my Fantasia Colored Pencils.

The sentiment is 

(43844) Happy Birthday Unmounted Stamp

from Biblical Impressions, sold through

Stamp On It

This is a Stampendous stamp, but I can't find

anywhere to link it.

I stamped it onto white card stock with 

Color Box Fluid Chalk Ink

 and colored it with my 

colored pencils.

I hope the people I send them to

enjoy them as much as I enjoyed 

making them.

Distress Crayon Background and Flowers

Hi blog friends!

Today I have a birthday card that I made for a friend.

I knew I wanted to use these flowers from 

"Daisy Thanks" by Stampendous

I stamped them onto white card stock with 

VersaMark Onyx Black Ink,

colored them with my Fantasia Colored Pencils and

my Prismacolor colorless blender pencil

then fussy cut them.

I wanted something a little different for the background, so I went to 

my stash of backgrounds that I've made just for this purpose.

I found this one that I made with my 

Tim Holtz Distress Crayons.

I trimmed it down, adhered it to a coordinating piece of card stock

and adhered that to the front of a white card base.

Inside I stamped the sentiment using 

"Big Scripty Words" from Lawn Fawn

I love how this card turned out and hope my friend loves it too.

Tulle shaker card

Hello blog friends!

Today I have a card that was inspired by Jennifer McGuire.

Yes!  Her again, she is one of my biggest inspirations.

Here is her post that inspired me

I never thought about using tulle on a card before, especially

not to make a shaker card.  But it really does work very well.

I started by stamping the flowers from

"Daisy Thanks"  by Stampendous 

onto white card stock and colored them with my 

Fantasia Colored Pencils

then fussy cut them.

Since I was using tulle in this way, I wanted to put the 

flowers on the inside of the card so the back of the ones on the front

wouldn't show.

I had to have a "mirrored" image of the flowers to do this.

I stamped the image onto a piece of acrylic with VersaFine ink.

I then carefully took the piece of acrylic and turned it over and 

laid it down onto the piece of white card stock, 

leaving a reversed image.

It didn't turn out as clear and crisp as the regular stamping did,

but it was good enough to work with.  I went over the outlines with 

black pen, once I had the image colored.

I fussy cut the parts I needed to cover the backs of the flowers,

I didn't do a perfect job, but I think for my first time trying this,

I did pretty well.

Here is the inside of the card.  

I found it very easy to make this type of shaker card using tulle.

Watch Jennifer McGuire's video and I'm sure you'll find it's pretty easy too.

Here is what I thought was the finished card, 

now looking at it, I thought it needed something more.

I added dash lines around the outer edge of the card with

a black pen and I think that makes a lot of difference.

Here is the final result.  I think it really needed that

bit of black around the edge.

Mother's Day Card

Mother's Day is coming up pretty quickly.

Sunday, May 14th is Mother's Day,

have you started your cards yet?

I have to make a few cards to send out, 

and this is my first.

When I was shopping with a couple friends

in Ohio, I found this 

"Spider Mum" stamp set from Stampendous 

for half price, so I had to pick it up.

I do love flower stamps!

I stamped it with Versafine Onyx Black Ink,

colored it with my Fantasia Colored Pencils,

then fussy cut the pieces.
I used my Prismacolor blender pencil 

for the first time and love how it works.

I wanted something more than a plain white background,

so I went into my stash of goodies and found

a piece of deli paper that I had colored with 

alcohol inks and used that.

The sentiment is from the

Happy Anniversary Stamp Set from

QKR Stampede

I wasn't sure at first how I liked this card, but 

it really has grown on me and I really do like it.

I'm hoping to get some more
Mother's Day cards done this weekend.

Folded star card

Hi crafty people!

Today I have something a little different for you.

I saw this folded star card on

Sue's Rubber Stamping Adventures 

and just had to try it.

I must say, I love how it turned out.

 

On the inside I stamped and colored this adorable snowman from Stampendous.  I was lucky enough to win him from Kristine at

Stamping and Scrapping in California

I colored the image with FlexMarkers and covered the snowman in Stickles.

Can't have a snowman that doesn't sparkle now can we?

I hope you like my card and will take a look at the blogs of the 2 ladies that inspired me to make this card.  They really are quite amazing.

Tuscany

Hello friends!

A couple weeks ago I went to my local stamp store, Buffalo Stamps and Stuff and did a little browsing.  I came upon this stamp that just took my breath away.  It reminded me so of the time Dave and I spent in Tuscany, Italy several years ago.   I had to have that stamp.  It is from Stampendous and is called "Poppy Scene"

Below is the first card I made with that stamp.  I used VersaMark embossing ink and black embossing powder on white card stock.  I then colored it with water color crayons.  

I fussy cut the image, adhered it to black card stock and again fussy cut it.  I adhered that to white card stock and added the black line around it to mimic the image.  This I did by using a Ranger Perfect Medium Pen and black embossing powder. 

The red flower is a silk flower folded and held with a black brad.

Today I have two cards to show you. This first one I had the idea for quite a while ago. I had printed the sentiment onto the white cardstock and it was sitting waiting to be finished. Finally got it finished!

I used some red cardstock from my stash, of course! The stamps are "To The Point" by Stampendous. I laid out all the arrow stamps on the cardstock, then pressed the acrylic block onto them so they would cling to the block. Using Onyx Black Versafine ink, I stamped them onto the red cardstock.

The red cardstock was adhered to the white base which was cut to 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" folded at 4 1/2". Using a red Zig pen and a white Ultimate Gel Pen, I made dash lines, rounded the bottom corners with my Corner Chomper and my card was done.

This second card is a card for my great niece Alexandrea's birthday. The base is white cardstock cut to 11" x 4 1/4" folded at 5 1/2" I used a EK Success 1" circle punch to punch circles from scraps from my stash. I cut each of those circles in half to make the scallops along the bottom of the card topping them with some fiber trim.

I also used those 1/2 circles around the 2" circle, also punched with an EK Success punch, to make the large flower. I used a large button tied with some white yarn, both from my stash, for the middle of the flower.

The "Celebrate" is a stamp from a Studio G $1.00 acrylic stamp set.

I think this card turned out very pretty for a beautiful young girl like my great niece.
