General Cards from Stash

Good day my crafty followers.

Today I have a couple quick and easy cards 

to show you.

I had some pages from an old planner that my 

daughter gave me, so I decided to use them

for cards.

I simply fussy cut some of the flowers and leaves

for this one and adhered them to a card base.

I stamped a sentiment on the front and was done.

For this one, I simply cut the page to size,

and adhered it to a card front.

I then used a die set to cut the hello and it's

shadow and adhered them to the front as well.

It's hard to see in these pictures, but these pieces

both have some beautiful gold foiling on them.

The vellum in the lower card is gold.

On the inside of this card, you can barely see some

trim on the inside of the card.  
I cut a piece of polkadot card stock from one of the

pages just to give it a little pop on the inside of the card.

I do love how these cards turned out.

They were quick and easy to make

and used some more of my never ending stash.

Valentine Cards 2023

Happy Valentine's Day!

Today I'm showing you the cards I made for my grandchildren

for Valentine's Day this year.

This one was made for Marie.  She loves pretty things and her

favorite color is pink, so I thought it was perfect for her.

The wreath was cut with a

Gina Marie Designs Wreath die set

from silver metallic card stock.
For the heart I used vellum that I had colored with 

alcohol inks.  I added some silver reactive foil to 

areas where the ink was still damp.
The vellum was adhered to card stock to give it 

more stability and punched with a 

Recollections 2 3/8" punch 

The I Love You was heat embossed with

 silver embossing powder with a stamp from my stash.

The card still needed something more, so I cut thin

 strips of the metallic silver card stock and adhered them

to the sides of the card and that finished it off perfectly.

Inside I stamped and embossed a simple greeting and a 

couple XOs.

For Asher, I made this cute kitty card.

The stamps were from an old set that is in my stash,

but I'm not sure what company. 

I stamped, colored and fussy cut the cat.
The heart was punched from plain white card stock, stamped

with the sentiment and XOs and I added dash lines to finish

off the heart and the card front both.

I think this is Purr-fect for Asher.

As with Marie's card, I stamped a simple greeting inside.

Love You Valentine Cards

Happy Valentine's Day!
Valentine's day is only a few days away,

so here are my last Valentine cards that I have to show you.

For both of these cards, I used inked background pieces

from my stash to die cut the hearts.
I used a silver metallic card stock for the

background on this one.

For this card I used a simple card stock background and

used dash lines to accent the heart and edges of the card.

I die cut the "love you"  and adhered it to vellum and fussy cut the 

"shadow" on the first card, this second card, I die cut the 

sentiment from gold vellum.

Inside, as with all my Valentine cards,

I used a 

Dyan Reaveley Alpha Stamp Set

for the sentiment.

"Mickey" Cards

Hello creative people!

Today I have a couple cards to show you.

I decided that I wanted to send a card to my

2 great nephews, they are going to Disney for

a vacation, so I thought something Mickey themed would

be perfect.

It's hard to see the background paper under the

patterned vellum, but it is a piece that I created

with alcohol inks.  The blue and green were a great

match for that piece.  I adhered the vellum piece to the

inked piece with Bearly Arts Glue, I love that glue,

it is great for vellum and barely shows on the 'clear' 

spots, and doesn't show at all in the areas that are printed,

even though they are translucent.

I decided to use some corrugated paper that I had in my

stash as a mat on the card and I love the look.

I then made this card with the same technique, but

with different colors.  I decided to add the Mickey head,

but it needed something to make it stand out on the card.
I punched a circle from the corrugated paper and 

mounted the Mickey head and that did the trick.

This is the card I sent to the boys, hopefully they will

like it as much as I do.

I've been challenging myself to use up scraps and 

to think outside the box lately and I'm having a 

great time doing that.  These cards are very different

than what I usually create and I love them.

Anniversary Card

Good day blog fans!

Today I'm showing you the Anniversary card I mad

for our son and daughter in law.

I stamped the
Large Knot Heart

from Eureka stamps, now sold through 

Stamp On It, onto card stock with VersaMark ink.

I then heat embossed it with silver embossing powder.

The sentiment was also heat embossed, but on

silver vellum.

The sentiment was wrapped around the image

panel and adhered to the back.

I then layered it onto white card stock and 

more of the silver vellum, then onto a 

card base.

Since this card was a odd size, I made my own

envelope with the 
We R Memory Keepers Envelope Punch Board.

Gratitude Card

Good day!

Today I'm showing you the cards I designed for 

our Girlfriends and Gratitude Crop at
My Happy Place Scrapbooking and Crafting.
Each cropper got a kit in their goodie bag with all

the elements for the card.  

The card base is a simple white card stock, cut to

8.5" x 5.5" and scored at 4.25 to make a standard A2 card.

I cut pieces of kraft card stock slightly smaller than the

size of the card base.

The flowered piece is a strip of beautiful vellum

that I wrapped around and adhered to the back of the

kraft card stock.

I decided to give everyone a choice of sentiments to use.

I stamped them and cut them to size and cut the 

white card stock to mat them also.  All they need to do is 

put them together and they have a lovely card to send

to a friend or as a thank you card.

I wanted to show how easy it is to make a 

pretty card that someone will love to receive.

I think they turned out lovely.

3rd Anniversary

Hello blog fans!

My son and daughter in law celebrated their

3rd anniversary on September 29th and

Sara asked me to help her with a card for Jaryd.

Since they don't have a printer, she asked if I could

whip up a card for her.
She sent me this info and I happily made the card for her.

I printed the front panel in purple onto white card stock.

I used an embossing folder with little hearts to

emboss the purple mat for the sentiment.

Then adhered both pieces to a piece of silver

vellum.

Since purple and gray were the colors for their

wedding I thought this was perfect for this card.
The card was just a little too big for an A2 envelope, 

so I made one for the card with a gray card stock.

I think this card turned out very nice and I hope

they both like it too.

Sara's Birthday Card

Good Day!

My daughter in law, Sara, just celebrated her birthday.

Today I'm showing you the card I made for her.

This card had quite the evolution.

I started by finding a purple background in

my stash, as her favorite color is purple.

At that point I had no idea what I was going to

do with it.  Then I decided that I wanted to emboss

a piece of acrylic and see what I could come up with.

I used an embossing folder with tiny hearts on it.
I can't find a link to this particular folder, but there

are several varieties of this online.

I had a bit of vellum with music on it and

added that to the background.

I then used scotch tape to hold the background

and acrylic together, then had to figure out how to cover

that tape up.  I scored a piece of card stock and folded

it over the top to cover the tape and make it into an 

actual card.  This worked out great for a unique card.

I cut the words out of a scrap from the same background

piece, using my 

Silhouette Cameo

 and adhered them to the acrylic piece with

Scotch Quick Dry Adhesive.

The last thing I did was add some of that 

glue behind the letters so the acrylic would 

adhere to the background, this worked perfectly.

Sara loved the card and how unique it is.

I was pretty happy with it myself.

Sometimes flying by the seat of my pants works

out great.

I'm so thankful to have a wonderful daughter in law

like Sara!

DIY Vellum

Hello blog friends!

A while back I saw 

this video

from Nina Ribena, showing how to make

your own vellum using wax and an iron.

I used what was left of a burnt down 

taper and my little craft iron.

Below you'll see

the results of my experimenting.

I decided to try different kinds of paper,

some plain, some patterned.

Here is a patterned paper with some printing on it.

Below you can see that it is now somewhat translucent.

This pattern didn't become as translucent, but 

as you can see below, you can see the pattern on

the card underneath it.

This plain paper worked very nicely.

I think this one turned out pretty nice too.

I also tried with just a plain piece of 

white printer paper and this worked very well.

And my last one was done with a red candle.

One thing I noticed is, that the red candle was

actually red on the outside and white in the middle, 

consequently, I had to keep turning the candle to

get the red areas.  So be warned, if you are using a

colored candle, be sure it's colored all the way through.

The other thing that is different about this one is that I worked

on a paper towel, where the others were done on a 

sheet of deli paper.

If you do this on a paper towel, you get some 

of the pattern of the towel on the "vellum"

You can see, especially at the bottom of the sheet,

that it isn't a smooth, clear look, but has

a pattern to it.
I like how this turned out, but if you want a nice clean

finish, use something without a design on it.

Also be warned that the wax does seep through

the paper and get onto what you are working on,

so be careful.

Challenge Swap #2

Hello crafty people!

I'm in an online group of friends and crafters

and we're doing a monthly challenge swap.

Today I'm showing you the card I did for the 2nd 

challenge.  It was my turn to choose the theme

and I chose "friendship"

I got to send my project to one of my closest friends,

so this was perfect for me.

I started by playing with some alcohol inks on

Yupo. I can't tell you which colors I used,

I just chose them and got to work playing.

This is how my first piece turned out and I loved

the color combination.

I made a couple more pieces with the same colors,

but blended them a little bit more.

I then used Alcohol Lift Ink to lift the Poppies image from

the ink on the Yupo.

I stamped what I picked up onto a piece of white card

stock, you'll see that later.

I loved the colors with this stamped image, 

so I started stamping on vellum and loved the results.

I cut a couple masks and stamped over this sheet of vellum.

I then laid it over the bright colored piece that

was my original creation.

I trimmed it down and adhered the vellum by 

folding it over the sides of the base piece,

using ATG tape on the back to hold it in place, then 

mounted it onto a white card stock base.

I use my computer to print the sentiment and adhered the

pieces to the front of the card.

I then took the pieces that I lifted the ink from and

played with them a little more, by adding some 

alcohol to them and this is what I got.

I love that you can just add more alcohol, and ink

if you want, and get more use out of the pieces.

I used the 2 pieces inside the card with the rest of the 

sentiment.

The flower in the bottom corner is the original

one that I stamped from lifting the ink.

I stamped it and fussy cut it, then added it

to the inside of the card.

The card was an odd size, so I made my own envelope

with my Envelope Punch Board.

I lifted another bit of ink and stamped the envelope with 

a matching flower.

I loved making this card and sending it to one of

my closest friends.

I think she loved receiving it too.

Kelsie's Card

Hi all!

Our family has a lot of birthdays and anniversaries

in February.  One of those is our daughter's birthday.

Kelsie loves purple, so I took a dive into my 

background stash and found this piece that I made

with alcohol inks and blending solution on

vellum.  It's hard to get a picture of how really 

beautiful this piece is, but I love it.

When the ink was still a little tacky in spots

I applied some pink metallic Deco-foil

Adhesives show through vellum, so I covered the 

entire back of it with wide score tape and adhered it to

a white card base. Covering the entire piece

gives it a uniform look and you can't see the adhesive.

I cut the Happy Birthday from some glitter card stock

and also cut 3 or 4 from plain white card stock.

I then layered them to give the sentiment some dimension.

You can see the shiny pink Deco-foil a little better

in this picture.

On the inside of the card, I wrote a personal note 

to Kelsie.

Father's Day

Hello all!

I know this is really late for Father's Day,

but I wanted to share this card I made for my husband.

It, obviously, could be used for any occasion,

with just a different sentiment.

Recently I have been spending a lot of my 

crafty time making backgrounds for my stash.

One of the techniques I've been doing a lot is

using alcohol inks, dropping them onto different

papers and seeing what I get.

There are many techniques that you can use to

make different patterns.

For this one, I dropped ink onto a piece of vellum.

I used blending solution to help the inks flow and mix.

When most of the ink was dry, but there were spots

that were still a little tacky, I applied 

light blue Deco Foil.

The foil adhered to the tacky ink creating 

shiny blue areas on the background piece.

I wrapped the vellum background around a

piece of white card stock to make it more sturdy

then adhered it to a white card base.

The sentiment was stamped with 

Twisted Citron Distress Ink.

Here you can see where the blue foil has adhered to the 

ink, giving a metallic shine.

I've been having so much fun creating backgrounds 

for my stash, I've built up quite a collection.

Now I just have to get to work making cards and

other projects with them.

Sadly another sympathy card

We got word that a very special lady had

passed away.

She and her sister are very loyal customers of

my husbands and we have come to be friends with

these sisters.

Wendy was diagnosed with cancer only a matter

of a few weeks ago, it took over very quickly.

I wanted to make a card for Donna, the other sister,

and this is what I made.

I love how this card turned out.

I heat embossed the rose with silver embossing

powder, then covered it with a mask.

(Rose from QKR Stampede)

I made the mask by stamping the same image onto 

a piece of white card stock and fussy cutting it.

After covering the rose with the mask,

I used Peacock Feathers and Broken China

Distress Inks and blending tools to 

ink over the entire area.

Removing the mask revealed the rose image

that I think turned out beautifully.

The background is silver vellum.

Adding that bit of ribbon, finished the card off

nicely.

I know Donna will appreciate this card and

our thoughts and prayers are with her.

Wedding in the Family!!!

Today I want to tell you a little bit about an exciting event in my family.  I do have a couple cards to show you, so read along and we will get to that.  But first about some people I love dearly!

This past Saturday we had a wonderful event in our family.  My nephew, Joel, got married to a really lovely girl, Renee.  If you have been following my blog for a while, you have seen some of the projects I have done for my "almost niece"  well, now she is officially my niece!  We are so happy to have her as part of the family!

This is a picture I took of my very handsome nephew Joel.  I can't believe he is a married man.  It was only a little while ago that I remember him telling my parents and his "Aunt Kristie is going to marry that man, she's in love with him"  that was about 25 yrs ago.  Now he is married, WOW!!!

Here is Joel with his bride, Renee.  Isn't she beautiful?!?  And she is as sweet as she is beautiful.

The wedding was held at Camp Turner, which is a group camp at Allegany State Park, in the southern part of New York State.  The wedding ceremony was held outside and the weather cooperated, the temps were in the 60s and it was a gorgeous day and a beautiful wedding. I can't wait to see the photos they had taken by the photographer.  They went to some beautiful areas in the park for the formal shots. 

I took over 400 pictures myself during the wedding and reception.  Some of them turned out great!  I'll share some of them at a later date.

The reception was fabulous!  Renee made so many things for the decor!  They all turned out gorgeous. Being a crafter, I know how much time and love she put into everything she made and all of it was beautiful.

Dinner was excellent and the dancing was amazing.  I dance a LOT and had such a great time!  This is the first time I've danced in years and this new hip made it all possible.  Can you tell that I had a wonderful time at the wedding? 

Now for the projects I have to show you.  I made two cards for the wedding.  One that Dave and I gave them and one for our son, Jaryd, to give them. 

                          

This is the card I made for us to give them.  These are the colors of their wedding along with a little accent of purple.  Just beautiful, love the combination.  In fact, if you have been following, you have seen this paper here before.  I had the beautiful vellum in my stash waiting for just the right project.

I hand drew and cut a heart template and traced it onto the vellum.  Once that was cut, I ran it through my Xyron.  I find this to be the easiest way to adhere vellum and not show the adhesive.  I adhered the vellum heart to the turquoise card stock and hand cut around it to give it just a bit of an outline.  I used foam tape to adhere it to the card. 

The inside sentiment, as well as that on the front, were printed from my computer.  I signed our names to the blank piece that you see on the bottom.  I love how this card turned out! 

This card was an odd size measuring about 5"x5.5" which meant that it didn't fit into a standard sized envelope.  My solution was to take an envelope that was 5.25"x7.25" and cut it down a bit.  I sealed it shut and formed a new flap at the side.  I then attached two hearts to the front of the envelope and wrote their names on one of them.  Turned out beautiful!
                           

This is the card I made for Jaryd to give them.  He said he wanted something that was nice, but not all flowery and frilly.  He was happy with this one. 
I found some purple paper in my stash and also some vellum with gold flowers. I ran that vellum through the Xyron to attach it to the purple paper.  The sheer ribbon was tied around this piece and attached with foam tape to a standard sized cream colored card.

The heart was cut from cream card stock and sponged with brown ink and the small 'crystals' attached to the side, then onto the card with foam tape.

When I was getting the "Congratulations" stamp out to use on the inside of the card, I found this "Love" stamp and had to add it to the bottom of the card.  I thought it really completed the card.
