2024 Shot Glasses

Hello crafty friends!
Today I have another Christmas gift that I made.
Every year I give my son in law, Brad, shot glasses
to add to his collection.
This year, I decided to do etched glass with 2 of his favorite
characters.
I know it may be hard to see Sonic on
this glass, it's very difficult to photograph
glass and the etching.
But it is Sonic on this shot glass.
This one may be even harder to see, but it's
Knuckles.  I know, literally, nothing about these
characters, I just made what my daughter told me
he likes.  LOL
He was happy when he opened them.
Now to figure out what to do for next Christmas.
This has become a tradition and I need to come up
with another idea, I'm running out.

Thanks for coming by today,
be sure to come again soon.
Until then,
smile and bring sunshine to someone else.

Grand Kids Shirts

Welcome!
If you have followed me for a while, you might know
that I love to make tee shirts with HTV
(heat transfer vinyl) for my family for Christmas.
Today I'm sharing a couple of the shirts I made
for my grandkids.
Our granddaughter Marie is 5 yrs old.
She is pretty small and last year, in pre K she
was bullied because of her size.
I always tell her she is perfectly petite and
I thought this shirt would be perfect for her.
I love the saying and hope she will feel this way
about herself.
Asher loves Sonic, so I decided that
he should have a shirt with Sonic on it.
I think this will be a favorite to wear when he
visits Auntie Kelsie and Uncle Brad, as Sonic
is Uncle Brad's favorite character.  In fact he has
a Sonic tattoo on his leg.

Thanks for stopping in today, I hope you
are inspired in some way and will stop by again soon.
Until then,
enjoy crafting!

Aprons for Asher

Welcome all you crafty people!
Today I have a couple aprons to show you.
I was Christmas shopping at a Handmade's store
in Ohio and saw aprons made from men's shirts.
Unfortunately, they didn't have any kids sized ones.
My friends laughed when I said, guess I'll have to make
it myself, but that's just what I intended to do.
Later in my visit, we visited a Goodwill store and
I found 2 boys shirts.  Asher is a 2T right now, so I wanted
a larger size.  These were the only 2 button up shirts they had
in sizes that would work.
I found this video on YouTube on how to make an
apron from a man's shirt and followed the process, it's just
on a smaller scale.
I love that this shirt even had a breast pocket on it.
This shirt was actually a pajama shirt, but it's perfect for an
apron.  I was gathering up the scraps and realized that
the cuff of the sleeve would make a perfect pocket.
So I salvaged that and added a pocket to the apron.
I always love a pocket on my aprons, so figured it would be
a good thing for Asher too.
I gave him both these aprons for Christmas, one for home and one
for G-Ma's house.  Both the kids love to cook and bake with me,
Marie has her own aprons, so I figured Asher should too.
One very convenient thing is that all I need to do
to fit it over his head is open a button or two.
No playing around with trying to get the neck strap at
the right length and it has great coverage.
Here are a few pictures of Asher, in his apron
while helping me make mac and cheese for dinner.
Isn't he the cutest cook ever?
He loves that there is a pocket in his apron too.
He's always happy to cook with G-Ma.

Thanks for stopping in today.
I hope you will come again soon.
Until then,
check out a new project on YouTube and
give it a try.

Blankets for Marie and Asher

Good day crafty people!
Today I'm showing you two of my favorite
gifts that I made for Christmas.
Back in September, I posted about making my
grandkids each a pillow.
Not long after that, Marie asked me to make her
a blanket.
She specifically wanted it to be pink, purple, pink, purple.
I told her I couldn't make one, because I didn't have the
yarn for it.
Of course I got the yarn and started on it right away.
Her favorite color is "dark pink" so I went with that
and a variety of other shades of pink and purple.
She was thrilled with her new blanket when she
got it on Christmas.  She said it was "exactly what she wanted"
Of course, I had to make one for Asher too.
His matches the pillow I made for him.
That variegated blue is what his pillow is
crocheted from.
He was very excited about his new blanket from
G-Ma.
These 2 are so appreciative of everything I make
for them and love it, no matter what I make.
They are the sweetest kids ever!

Thanks for stopping by today,
I hope you've been inspired in some way
and will come again soon.
Until then,
surprise someone with something you
make for them.

Chicken Obsession

Hello crafters!
Welcome to my blog.
Today I'm showing you a few of the gifts I made
for my husband, Dave, for Christmas.
This past summer, he wanted to redo the "decor"
in our back yard.  Someone suggested chickens and he
went with it.  Several years ago we bought a
chicken nesting box while antiquing with some
friends, but it didn't work out where we wanted it
to go, so it's been sitting ever since.
He mounted that nesting box on the back fence,
and started collecting chickens for the box and
the fence.
This is what the back fence looks like.
Actually all the spaces in the box have a chicken in them
now.  Next summer he will have more to add to the yard.
It's become a bit of an obsession with him now.
One day I was shopping in Micheal's and cut down the
fabric aisle.
(Yes, Micheal's now has fabric!  Very nice fabrics at
great prices.  Not a lot, but some really great patterns)
I happened to see this chicken fabric and had to
get a yard to make pillows for our deck in the back.
I happened to have some pillow forms that someone in
our buy nothing group had given me and they worked out
perfect.
This chicken can't be left outside, but I knew
he would love it.
I found the pattern on line and used
some left over yarn to crochet it.
One day, Dave and I were out shopping and he mentioned
that he should have a chicken ornament.
So of course I made him one.
Both of the crochet chickens were whipped up in no time.
They were quick and easy to make and I used
some left over yarns from my stash for both of them.
Yes, I'm feeding his chicken obsession,
but what the heck, it's something fun for both of us.
I also got him a couple more chickens for the yard to
put out once spring comes to
Western New York.

Thanks for popping in to see what I've been up to.
I hope you will come again soon.
Until then,
find something cute to work on.

Loaf Cats

Hello and Happy 2025!
I will be posting a lot of gifts that I made for
people for Christmas and here is my first for the
new year.
Kelsie told me one day that she had seen a
crocheted cat that looked like one of their cats, but didn't
buy it.  When she went back later, it had been sold.
I said what I often say, "I can make that."
So I found a pattern for "loaf cats" and
crocheted 3 of them.  Each one looks like one of their cats.

These were a gift for my son in law, Brad.
Dave wrapped them in a bag, so when Brad pulled out the
tissue, he would see his cats looking out at him.
As you can see, he loved them.
This is Iris, she's their ginger,
with some white on her chest and belly.
Here are the pictures I had to work from.
Sheba is a mix of gray and browns.
with a bit of white mixed in.
Here's a picture of Sheba.
This is their "fat cat"  Cora.
She is a really good sized cat, about 20 lb. and
as they say, she has no butt.
This is Cora.
She's so ladylike!
Brad was thrilled with these cats,
he said they are prefect and I got the sizes
just right.
It was a fun gift to make and I'm so
happy that he loved them.

Thanks for stopping by to see what I've been up to.
I hope you have been inspired in some way and
will come again soon.
I'll be posting more of the gifts I made very soon.
Until next time,
create something fun.

If you are interested in making some loaf cats,
just google "pattern for loaf cat" and you'll find many.
