Beach card - Summer Fun

Hi there!
This week's
Summer Fun!
I chose to use 2 images from
"Bubbles Background" (#58101)
"Beach Frame" (#5601)
I scored and sanded some sandy colored card stock for the base.
I stamped the Beach Frame and colored it with FlexMarkers.
The Bubbles Background was stamped with Distress Ink
and adhered to the Beach Frame.
Baker's Twine and a shell embellishment were added to finish the card.
I hope you will be inspired to participate in this weeks challenge.

Thanks to the wonderful staff at Sisters

Hello all!
Today I have a story to tell you and I'll try to keep it as short as possible,
yet get the important parts told.
On June 2nd, I got a call from my Mom's friend that she was supposed to pick up Mom for church, but she couldn't get an answer on her phone or at the door and she was worried.
My hubby called my brother, who lives closer, and then we took off in a panic and got to Mom's house faster than is legally possible.
When we got there, my brother's wife told me she was okay.
Well, not really okay at all, she was on the floor with what we found out later was a shattered proximal femur. She had an extremely bad break of the top part of her right leg.
Poor Mom had gotten up at 3:30 to go to the bathroom, didn't realize that her leg had fallen asleep and when she stood up, down she went.
By the time the ambulance people got her up, she had been laying on the floor for 7 hrs.
On Monday, the 3rd she had surgery and had a rod put into her leg and the whole thing was screwed in place.
She is now in a rehab center, working on getting as strong as possible.
Everyone from the first responder till she left the hospital was amazing!
I don't have a single thing that I can complain about.
The people in the ER were wonderful and let us be with her
and even went and rounded up enough chairs for all of us.
The nurses, aides, even the cleaning people were fabulous, helpful, courteous and just all around pleasant.
The day she was leaving the hospital for the rehab center she asked me to make a card that we could send to the people on the unit.
Below is the card I made for her.
I took her picture just before leaving the hospital
and I'm going to include that in the card.
I know names fade away, but I know they will remember
who she is when they see that picture.
Mom is one of the sweetest people you'd ever want to know
and there were several workers that said they'd love to take her home.
They would come in to visit her even if she wasn't one of their patients.
So if you are local to me, that would be around Buffalo, NY and you want good care, go to Sisters of Charity Hospital.
They are fabulous!!!
At least that was our experience.

For the card I used
"Flower Border" (#17915) from
I colored Flower Border with FlexMarkers, fussy cut it, adhered it to brown card stock and fussy cut it again.
For the "Thanks" I used the Cricut,
but don't ask me which cartridge I used.
Sorry, I just don't remember and I don't have the cartridge here at home.
I cut it out of white card stock and colored it with FlexMarkers,
fussy cut it and adhered it to card stock and fussy cut it again.

Anything goes challenge

This weeks challenge on the
is "Anything Goes"
I used
"Garden Bear" (#1402)
We have the most wonderful neighbors,
and Di loves gardening.
She is very generous and fixes up a couple planters
for us to put on our front patio each summer.
I wanted to make a thank you card for her
and when I saw this image,
I knew I wanted to use it for her card.
This first card was done with a couple techniques.
I colored the image with water color crayons.
I made the sky and grass with Distress Inks.
I stamped the image on scrap and cut it out
to use as a mask as I inked the sky and grass areas.
Masks were used for the clouds also.

The image on this card was colored with colored pencils
and blended with Gamsol.
I inked the sky, using masks for the clouds.
I tore a two different colors of core'dination card stock
and layered it for the grass.
I adhered the bear with foam tape.
I'm not sure which card I like better or which I'll be giving to Di.
Which do you like better?

I hope you've gotten some inspiration
and will participate in this weeks challenge!
Come again soon.

Until next time, Happy Crafting!

Eureka! Stamps Challenge - Fathers Day

Hello blog friends!
It's the start of another
today and the theme is
"Dads, Grandpas/Father's Day"
I chose
"Father and Son Bear" (#6104)from
as well as
"Field Grass Right" (#38925) from our sister company
for my card.

I decided to try something new,
well at least it's new for me,
I colored this with colored pencils and used Gamsol to blend.
I've got to say, I love working with this technique and product.
People have been telling me to try it and I'm so glad I finally did.
The colors blended so nicely,
I know I'm going to be doing this some more.

I hope you've gotten some inspiration here today
and that you'll join us in our challenge.
There are lots of images from
that would work great for this challenge,

Wedding Card Challenge

This week the challenge on the
 is wedding.
I decided to use
"Heart Chain Border" (#35902)
"Love is in the air!" (#digi24406) from
The Heart Chain Border was stamped onto
gold velum and embossed with white embossing powder.
I cut the base card and inserted the gold embossed piece into the front of the card.
This is the inside of the card.
For the sentiment, I used a digital stamp.
I printed it to a piece of paper, then I traced the lettering
with a glue pen then embossed it with gold embossing powder.
It needed a little something and some gold thread worked perfect.
I hope my card has inspired you and that you will join
the Eureka! Stamps Challenge this week.
For all the details hop on over to the

So glad you stopped by today, I'd love to hear what you think,
so leave me a comment.

Until next time, Happy Crafting!

Congratulations! Inspired by Kristina Werner

Hi all!
Today I have a card that I was inspired to make by
this post that Kristina Werner posted on the
I embossed the "Cling Dots" (Hero Arts) background
with clear embossing powder.
I used scraps from my stash
for the strips of paper that I adhered
to a scrap of kraft card stock.
I added a bit of baker's twine at the top
for a little more texture.
The "Congratulations"  is from the
"Tilted Banner Sayings 4x53/4" set
I was lucky enough to win a $50 gift card from
Simon Says Stamp a while back and I'll tell ya,
it was tough deciding what to buy.
They have so many wonderful things
and their prices are very reasonable.
were one of the things I purchased
with the gift card and I'm loving them already.
Thanks for stopping by today.
I hope you will leave a comment and
come again soon.
