Favorite things

Have you heard the latest fun party craze?
It's a
My Favorite Things Party!
This is how my invitation arrived.
A "brown paper package tied up with string"

Inside were all the particulars.
How fun is this?
Now to figure out what my favorite thing was going to be.
You may not think this is a tough thing, but for me it is.
I don't have a favorite color or food.
Don't ask me my favorite designer or perfume.
I just have a lot of things I like, but not favorites.
I knew not all the people there would like scrapbooking,
stamping or papercrafting, so that was out.
Then one evening at the dinner table
I was telling my family about the party
and that I didn't know what to take and my son asked
"What's your favorite movie Mom?"
Well that did it!  I DO have a favorite movie.
"To Sir, With Love"
From there it was easy,
add a bottle of Diet Pepsi and some popcorn and all set.
Well almost.
I had to incorporate papercrafting,
so I added a few handmade cards to each gift
and made toppers for the packages.

Here are the gifts all ready to go.
All the images were colored with FlexMarkers.
Here is a close up of each of the toppers.
"Lg Teapot" (#11702) from Eureka! Stamps
Celebrate from "Friends" set (#46202) from QKR Stampede.

"Sm Harvest Basket" (#22203) from Eureka! Stamps

"Lg. Roses" (#23301) from QKR Stampede

Friends  from "Friends" set (#46202) from QKR Stampede
"Lg Best Friends Sitting" (#5906) from Eureka! Stamps

The party was a blast!
Everyone seemed to love the "favorites" that they went home with.
We played some fun games.
We ate a lot of yummy food.
And we laughed more than I have in ages.
I have some of the "most funnest" friends!
(I know that isn't really proper English, but it fits!)

Thanks for stopping today!

Trick or Treat

Do you love candy corn?
Or are you one of the many that don't?
I'm a candy corn fan,
especially when it doesn't have any calories.
Like the ones in
"Trick or Treat" (#3908) from Eureka! Stamps
I had fun coloring this image for both these cards.
I love the color combination for the "traditional" Halloween candies.

I used FlexMarkers to color the image as well as the 'stripes' on this card.

Cornstalk and Pumpkin

Hi all!
I thought I'd share a fall card with you today.
I made this card with
"Cornstalk and Pumpkin" (#29802) from Eureka! Stamps
The image was stamped onto white card stock and colored with FlexMarkers, fussy cut and adhered with foam tape.
The cream card stock was torn then inked with
Antique Linen Distress Ink.

Over the tree tops

Hi all!
Have you ever started out with an idea
and ended up doing something totally different?
That's what happened with this card.
I used
"Tree" (#14501) and
"Sleigh and Reindeer" (#15705)
from QKR Stampede to make this card.
I started it with a totally different thought,
even a different image that would be the focal point of the card.
I found a sheet of patterned paper in my stash with the trees on it.
I thought it might be interesting to us some
Distress Ink (Broken China) to give it different color.
Then I thought about the Sleigh and Reindeer
image and how cute it would be flying over the trees.
Then I decided to stamp a few Tree images
and color them with Distress Ink (Peeled Paint)
I fussy cut them and added them to the card,
I used some foam tape to give that middle one a bit of depth.
I do love how this card turned out,
even if I didn't do anything that I planned to do.

For the inside of the card,
I used an embossing folder and ran it through my Cuttlebug.
Love the snowflakes!
I think I'll add a handwritten sentiment to this one.
Now to get back to that image I was planning to use on the card,
hmmmm what should I do with it?

Thanks for stopping by today,
I hope you've been inspired in some way by my card.
Even if it's just to go ahead and veer off course
when the mood strikes you.
Leave me a comment if you will and come again soon.
Until next time, Happy Crafting!

Mitten Line

Hello crafty friends!
Gloves or mittens?
That is the question.
Are you a fan of one or the other?
Me?  I love my mittens, especially my warm,
soft, polar fleece ones.
Maybe that's why I was drawn to this image.
 I used
"Mitten Line" from Biblical Impressions and
noel from the "Friends" set (#46202) from QKR Stampede
for this card.
I colored the image with FlexMarkers
and decided to leave it as a very clean and simple card.
With the cold weather coming my way, I'm thinking I better get those mittens out and ready to wear.
How about you?  Gloves or mittens?
Or maybe where you live you don't need either one.

Happy Anniversary

October marks 5 years that My Happy Place has been open.
We, therefore, planned an anniversary crop.
One of the things we decided for the crop,
was that we should have a card for everyone to make.
So I worked up this card and made up a kit for each participant.
I used a variety of embossing folder to emboss white card stock.
I then cut them into squares.
I hand drew the hearts and cut them into templates,
traced them onto card stock and hand cut them,
before running them through the Cuttlebug to emboss them.
I think it's easier to handcut the shape before it's embossed.
I stamped
"Happy Anniversary" (#9004) from Eureka! Stamps
onto the same card stock as the background
and added a piece to the bottom that was punched
with a Fiskar's border punch.
This was attached to the card with foam tape.

Thank you for stopping by today.
I hope my card has inspired you in some way.
Leave a comment if you will and come again soon.

Love Bear

Hello everyone and welcome to my post for the newest
This weeks theme is "Animal Madness"
I chose to use
"Love Bear" (#10604) from QKR Stampede
for my card.
I just love this little guy.  Is he cute or what?!?!
I colored him with FlexMarkers, fussy cut him
and attached him with foam tape.
The yellow card stock was embossed with an
embossing folder run through the Cuttlebug.

Wouldn't this make an adorable card for a new baby?
Or maybe to hide for one of your children to find?
It would bring a smile to my face if someone left this for me.

QKR Stampede, not only has lots of adorable bear images,
but they also have many other animal images
to choose from in unmounted red rubber
and digital format stamps.
Why not stop in and see their wide variety of stamps?

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you got some inspirations and will join in the fun at the QKR Stampede blog where you will find all the particulars about the challenge and more 'animal' inspiration.

In from the cold

Hi blog fans!
Today I have a card I made with
"Shelf" (#33203) from Biblical Impressions
I colored the "Shelf" image with FlexMarkers and cut it with a Spellbinders die and the Cuttlebug.
I inked the edges with Distress Ink (Worn Lipstick)
For the card base, I cut 2 of the same size shapes
with the Spellbinders dies,
the back one I scored about 3/4" from the end.
I adhered the 2 white pieces together
at the top with ATG tape above the score line.
Folding back the card on the score line allows it to open clean and easy.

has lots of really lovely images
that come in unmounted red rubber.
Stop in and see what they have to offer.

Love Words 2 cards same stamp

Hello!
I'd like to share a couple cards with you today.
I used
"Love Words" (#15717) from QKR Stampede
and heat embossed this lovely image onto white card stock.
With both cards I used Distress Ink
(Worn Lipstick above, Tattered Rose and Antique Linen below)
over the entire piece of card stock.
The embossed area resists the ink.
Above I simply added a bit of ribbon for embellishment.

On this card I used some craft tape from
Recollections at the top
and a button from my stash at the bottom to finish off my card.
This is the first bit of craft tape I've used and I'm really loving that stuff!
You'll be seeing more of it on my cards in the future.
Thanks for stopping by today,
I hope you have gotten some inspiration from my cards.
Leave a comment if you will and let me know which card you like better.

Patchwork Glove

I'm not a huge fan of winter,
in fact, I really don't like it at all
and the older I get the less I like it.
BUT I love my mittens!
There's just something cozy about wearing a nice warm pair of mittens.
Maybe that's why I loved this image right away.
This is
"Patchwork Glove" (#84207)  from
I made this little card to use on a gift.
It measures abut 2 3/4" x 2 1/2" so you can see that this is a
fairly small image.
I stamped it onto white card stock twice.
I colored the heart and cuff on one and cut them out,
then adhered them to the other mitten image.
Why?  You may ask.
Well to be totally honest, it was one of those situations
where I had a chance to be more creative.
I always say,
"there are no mistakes, just chances to be more creative."
Yeah, that's right, I goofed!
I colored outside the lines and it didn't look good,
so I colored another mitten and "got more creative" with it.
Once I "got more creative" I fussy cut the image,
put it onto blue card stock and fussy cut it again.
I adhered it to the card base with foam tape.
I inked the edges with a coordinating Distress Ink (Broken China)
and called it done.

I'm glad you popped in today!
Stop again soon.
You never know what I might have to show you.

Until next time, Happy Crafting!

Cat-r-Pillar

Hello blogger friends!
I'm at it again and I'm making a bit of a dent in my Christmas cards!
Only about 40 more to go!
Today I have a card made with
"Cat-r-Pillar" (#23201) from Eureka! Stamps
I colored the image with FlexMarkers
I added some Stickles to the tinsel garland
and Glossy Accents to the ornaments and lights.
I think this gives just the right amount of sparkle and shine.
Have you started your Christmas cards yet?
Stop in to the

Falling leaves

Has fall taken hold in your area yet?
It has in the Buffalo, New York area.
One of the things I like about fall is the colors.
So I used those colors as inspiration for this card.
I made this fall themed card with
"Leaf" (#3901) from QKR Stampede
I started by tearing some scrap card stock.
I adhered the pieces of card stock to either side of a piece of white card stock with removable adhesive.
I used Distress Inks and a blending tool to apply ink
between the two pieces of torn card stock.
This gave me the "strip" of color down the middle.
I stamped the "Leaf" image with brown Color Box Fluid Chalk Ink.
The button was one I found in my button jar
and I thought it went perfectly on the card.

Are you a fan of the fall season?

See you soon!

Trick or Treat Challenge

BOO!
Today's post is for the Eureka! Stamps Blog Challenge!
Our theme is "Trick or Treat"
For my card I have used
"Tree Losing Leaves" (#34502)
"Witch" (#3901)
from Eureka! Stamps
I stamped the "Witch" image with VersaMark ink.
There isn't a lot of coloring needed with this image, but what there was needed, I did with my water color crayons.
I stamped the "Tree Losing Leaves" image onto a white card stock base then inked it with a variety of Distress inks.
I think the tree and the background sky are just the right amount of "creepy" for this witch, as I think she is more cute than scary.  Don't you?
I hope you will get some inspiration from my card and join the challenge this week.  Pop over to the Eureka! Stamps blog to see what inspiration the other design team gals have for you.
Be sure to check out Eureka! Stamps and see what fun image you may want to work with.

Jack O Pumpkin

Welcome to my Halloween Challenge post for QKR Stampede!
Please stop in at the QKR Stampede Blog to see all the particulars about the challenges and the wonderful prize you could win.
Today I have a card  that I made with
"Pumpkin Vine"  (#12915) from QKR Stampede
I'm not a huge Halloween fan,
but one of the things I do love are the pumpkins.
When I was a kid, we always called our Jack 'o lantern,
Jack O Pumpkin, so this image brings back some great childhood memories.
I think this guy has a lot of personality.
He was stamped onto white card stock and colored with FlexMarkers.
The ribbon is from May Arts Ribbon. I colored the white ribbon with FlexMarkers also.
I used Distress ink to color the base card using a blending sponge.
I hope you will play along with our Halloween challenge.
QKR Stampede has some wonderful Halloween and fall images, so be sure to stop into the QKR Stampede store and check them out.  There's something for everyone.

A tweet little card

I know, pretty corny.
I couldn't resist titling this
"A tweet little card"
I made this card with
"Full Nest" (#37313) from Biblical Impressions
The image is colored with FlexMarkers and the sky is inked with Distress inks.
Are these little birdies cute or what?
I thought this would make a very cute card for someone moving into a new house or apartment.
I just happen to know someone who will be moving into his first apartment soon, so maybe this will go with the little 'house warming' gift I have picked out for him.  He won't have a "full nest" but that's okay, he will one day.
So glad you stopped by today and I hope you will stop again soon.
Leave a comment if you will, I always like to hear what y'all have to say.

Pumpkin thanks

Happy Day!
My favorite season is summer, but I do love the fall colors and pumpkins and Thanksgiving.  There is so much to give thanks for!
Today's card is all about thanks, I used
"Fall Frame" (#56801) from Eureka! Stamps
"Give Thanks" (#34109) from Biblical Impressions
"Fall Frame" has a frame on the stamp, but I'm using only part of the image.
I masked off the frame and vines before I inked up my stamp.
I colored the image with FlexMarkers and inked the rest with Distress inks.
The sentiment is also a partial image.
The entire sentiment is 'Give thanks to the Lord'
Thanks for stopping by today.
Leave a comment if you would and let me know what you are thankful for.
I'm thankful for the wonderful family and friends that I have and for my ability to create.
Until next time, Happy Crafting!
