Flower Making

What happens when a guy grows up with a
crafty Mom and gets engaged to a crafty girlfriend?
He ends up doing crafty things for their wedding!
This is a little peak at what we are working on for
Jaryd and Sara's wedding.
I'm not going to go into detail about what is being done
with these flowers, but I wanted to give you a little
teaser and a peak at some of our fun.
These flowers are made from a product called
It's been around for quite a while, I remembered
using it when I was a teen and looked it up on the internet.
I found one place in the US that carries this product,
so I ordered a can to see how it would work.
It worked great, so we ordered more.
Clay Alley has been fabulous and quick with our orders.
Each flower has to be formed with wire, then dipped into the
film, pulled out, then sprinkled glitter and set to dry.
They dry fairly quickly.  The glitter doesn't totally
adhere to the film, so once they are dry,
Jaryd takes them outside and sprays them with
hairspray. This does the trick.
Here are some of the flowers he made.
Here is Sara, working on another part of the
project.
Thanks for stopping by today,
I hope I've made you curious about what
we'll be making with those flowers.
I also hope you'll stop by
and see what they have to offer.
We're loving the Dip It Fantasy Film,
but they have a lot of other products
to check out.
Until next time,
enjoy crafting something fun!

Shower Card

Welcome to Kristie Kreates!
Today I have a card to show you.
This is the card I made for my almost daughter in law
for her bridal shower.

Sara is mostly Irish and loves her Irish heritage,
so I thought this heart was appropriate for her card.
I stamped "large knot heart" onto
white card stock with purple Distress Ink.
(I'm not sure which purple this is)
I trimmed down the image and adhered it to
a background from my stash.
This one was done on glossy paper with
alcohol inks.
I then adhered it to a gray card base.

On the inside I cut a piece of plain white card stock
then adhered thin strips of the same background
paper to the sides before adhering it to the inside
of the card.
I love that little pop of color inside the card.

Since this card was an odd size, I used my
We R Memory Keepers Envelope Punch Board
to make an envelope for the card in a coordinating color.
I know Sara appreciated the card, she loves hand
made cards and gifts.

Thanks for coming by today.
I hope you are having a crafty day
and were inspired in some way while
you were visiting.
Hope to see you again soon.
Until then,
happy crafting!

Best Buds and Dating Days

Hello crafters!
Welcome back to my blog.
Today I'm going to show you a couple of the layouts for my
son and almost daughter in law's wedding scrapbook.
Well, it's more than wedding, it's their whole relationship,
at least parts of it anyway.
This first layout is about friends.
At the top you see Jaryd with his two "oldest" friends.
On the left is Jaryd with Brian.  They are like brothers
and I call Brian my #2 son.  He will be Jaryd's best man.
On the right is a picture of the two of them with their other
friend, Garth.  We have known Garth since before they were
a year old.  We moved into our house just a month or so before
Jaryd's 1st birthday.  Garth lived right around the corner and is just
a couple weeks older than Jaryd.  So they have known each other
since they were a year old. Garth is also part of the wedding party
as a groomsman.  He will also be playing the bag pipes at the wedding.
The picture at the bottom is their whole group of friends.
They were friends in school and have stayed friends since.
This is showing some fun times with some of their
other friends
Brian's girlfriend Kelsey with Sara at the left,
Sara with their friend, Sam, at a Bills game. She's a bridesmaid.
Then in the left center, Brian's sisters, Emily and Michelle with
Kelsey and Sara.  Next is Jaryd and Sara at the Bills game. Crazy
snow at that game! They had to leave at half time, because
it was so bad. And for a Buffalonian, you know it has to be
bad to leave the Bills game
And at the bottom are some of the guys again.

This layout titled "dating days" are a variety
of pictures for Jaryd and Sara at different outings.
At their friends Garth and Hilary's wedding
Just out and about at the park.
Out at Canalside, that's me with him at the bottom
and at a work Christmas party.

Thanks for stopping in today.
Come again soon.  I'll be posting layouts
now and then from now on.
I've been incorporating stamping into
the layouts as much as possible.
I love stamping and plan to use it a lot
in their scrapbooks.
Until next time,
scrap on!

Shower Gifts

Hello crafty people!
Today I'm showing you what I put together for my
almost daughter in law as a shower gift.
The shower was last Sunday, so she already has these,
not a secret anymore.
I knew she wanted a hat for their honeymoon as I had
seen it on their registry.  I called my son and asked him to
take it off the registry so no one would buy it for her.
Then I found a hat and vinyled it for her.
I decided not to use heat transfer vinyl,
I thought she probably won't want her hat to say
"Just Married" forever.
The vinyl stuck great, but it will be able to be
removed when she is ready to take it off.
I thought a nice tote bag would be a good thing to have
while going to the beach, shopping or where ever,
so I got this tote and added the monogram with the same vinyl.
I told her we can change out the vinyl if this doesn't last,
but I wanted it to match the hat for now.
I think they turned out pretty nice and she loved them too.
Here is a picture of her with the gifts I gave her.
I decorated them with purple silk flowers.
She told me she loves Blue Willow china,
so I started her collection for her.
And the hat fits!
The other part of her shower gift she already had,
that was their wedding invitations.
We designed them together and I made them.
I love making gifts special, don't you?
Now, on to more wedding prep.

Thanks for stopping by today,
come again soon, you never know what you'll find on
Kristie Kreates!
(Hint, I'm making something for Jaryd's stag)

Engagement pics? and Announcing

Hi everyone!
As you may know, if you have been following me for a while,
my son, Jaryd, is getting married in September.
I have started their wedding scrapbook already, as there
 is so much to include.
A few weeks ago, I went to a weekend long crop and
got some layouts done for their book.
Today, I'm starting to share some of the layouts with you.
Jaryd's fiance's mom is a photographer and quite a while ago,
they visited her and she took some beautiful pictures of the two
of them together.  When they were posted on facebook, everyone loved
them and I can't tell you how many times I heard;
"Are those engagement pictures?"
To which I answered;
"Not yet."
These are some of the pictures that Yvonne took
of them.  I love them.
After Jaryd and Sara got engaged, in August, 2017
they arranged a little outing with the closest family members
to announce the date they would be getting married.
On 9-5-17 they announced the date and also
Jaryd asked his sister, Kelsie, to be his "Best Lady"
I was lucky enough to catch her reaction when she opened
a gift and found the question inside.
The dinner took place at Sara's father's boat dock,
it is a beautiful place, as you can see in the pictures.
Then they asked our close friend, "Aunt" Zoe, his Godmother,
to officiate at the wedding.
They made a cup that said
"We can't say I Do without  You!"
on it.
Sara went to Zoe and pulled out a "ring pop"
and asked her,
"Will you marry us?"
Zoe was so surprised and delighted
and said "Yes"
And they put the 'ring' on her finger and
made it official.
And from then on the planning began.

I'm so glad you have stopped in today.
I'll be posting some of the other layouts that
I have made soon.
The kids have seen some of them
and those I'll post, others they won't see until I
finish the book, so you'll also have to wait to see them.
Thanks for letting me share our journey to the wedding
with y'all.
I hope you'll enjoy the trip with me.
 I'll be posting other
things we're making for the wedding along the way also.
Thanks again, see you soon.

Onsie

Hello fans!
Today I have a project that my almost
daughter in law and I did together.
She needed to make a onsie for one of her friends
whose little girl was turning 1.
Mom wanted a Minnie Mouse "one" on the
front.  I have the heat press, so Sara asked me
to give a hand.
Once we got the design just perfect, we
cut it with my Silhouette Cameo from
glitter heat transfer vinyl, placed it on the onsie,
then pressed it with my heat press.
Here is how the onsie turned out.
Cute isn't it?!?!
And close up.
And here is the little 1 year old in her
onsie and her sweet little tutu skirt.
Is she adorable or what?!?!
Have you ever used heat transfer vinyl?
If so, what kinds of things have you made
with it?

Thanks for stopping by today, come again soon,
you never know what you'll find on
Kristie Kreates.
