My Other Pages

To make it easier to read about our trip to Ireland, I have made a page that is just for that. There is a tab above for Ireland Trip 2014 or click on the Home tab to read my other posts. I have also created a new page for My Weight Loss Journey if you are interested in that, click on the tab above.

Thinking of you

Hello all you craft lovers!
Today I have a card to show you that I made for a friend.
I wanted to let her know she is always in my thoughts and prayers.
I started with a piece of water color paper and an acrylic block.
Using a few water color crayons, I scribbled on the acrylic
block and spritzed it with a bit of water.
Then I laid the paper onto the block to soak up the color.
I have seen this technique done before and I've tried it
a number of times and I'm never very happy with the results,
but this time, I really did love it.
I stamped the Thinking of You sentiment onto the water
color piece using my Misti tool.
I started out stamping it with yellow, hoping that it would show
up on the pink, but it didn't work and I ended up stamping over
it with a slate gray ink.
I adhered it to a bright yellow card base and added a white
piece of card stock inside.
On the inside the yellow worked much better.
I left room so I could write a message to my friend.
When I was at Ikea, I picked up this hook to send her.
She had gotten one when we had gone to Ikea a few weeks
ago when I was visiting and I know she wishes she had
picked up another, so I sent this along with the card.
I'm hoping it brings a smile to her face.
Now I'm wishing I would have picked up a couple for
my craft room.  Oh well, I'll just have to make another
trip to Ikea.  I just wish there was one close to me.
Another excuse to go visit I guess.

Thanks for stopping by today,
hope you'll stop by again soon.
Until next time, Happy Crafting!

MHP mason jars

Hello crafty people.
Today I'm showing you the gift everyone at our weekend
crop is receiving.
These are for the 3rd annual spring weekend crop
that is hosted by my friends Jen, Danielle and me.
The studio we run is called
"My Happy Place"
I was fortunate to find these mason jar mugs at a
reasonable price, so I picked them up to use for
our weekend crop.
I cut the vinyl on my
Silhouette Cameo and
applied it to the jars.
I thought they needed a little pop,
so I decided to add the red hearts.
Just the right touch.
I think they turned out great.
We are going to fill them with some chocolates,
a few little goodies and add a little ribbon around the top.
They will be on the tables at each space when
our ladies arrive at the crop.
I'm sure they will love them,
I know I do.

Thanks for stopping by today.
Come again soon,
you never know what you'll find on
Kristie Kreates.

Goin' with the flow.

Hi all!
I don't know about where you live,
but here in my area we are experiencing some
awfully cold weather.
This past weekend we had quite a bit of snow,
and even for the Buffalo, NY area, that's not quite
normal for the beginning of April.
And frankly, I don't like it at all.
I'm hoping it won't be long before we are
seeing some beautiful roses in our area.
Well maybe a couple months, but it sure will
be wonderful to have them blooming.
This card didn't turn out at all like I had it pictured
in my head.  I was thinking more pastelish (is that even a word?)
I used my Peerless watercolors to paint this card.
I started off using the wrong color for the background, but
figured what the heck, may as well keep going.
Then I intended to heat emboss the image with white
embossing powder, but used black ink instead.
Again I figured what the heck and moved on.
I'm still getting used to the Peerless watercolors
and the vibrancy they have.
Needless to say, they didn't come out as I wanted,
but heck nothing about this card was as I had planned.
So I just kept on with it till it was painted,
trimmed it down and adhered it to a white card base.
You know like the weather, sometimes cards just don't work
out like you hoped.  So just go with the flow and see what
comes to life.

Thanks for stopping today,
I hope you are having a wonderfully creative day.
See you again soon.
