Slippers

Hi everybody!
Welcome and thanks for stopping by.
The last several months I've really gotten back to
crocheting and knitting.
For Christmas I made several pairs of slippers.
I used THIS pattern, she even has a step by step
video that shows how to make them.
I know, in the pictures they look kind of fat and
clumsy, but once they are on, they aren't at all.
I used a variety of Bernat Blanket yarn which is
very soft and easy to work with.
After giving them to my daughter and daughter in law
for Christmas, my son and husband said they would like
some too.
So out came the yarn and I made them for the guys too.
For the guys I just stopped sooner and didn't
add the boot part, they stopped at the ankle.
I also used this pattern with worsted wt. yarn and a
smaller hook to make some for my granddaughter,
which I showed in a previous post.

If you are a crochet fan, I hope you'll give these a try.
They are pretty simple to make and are done
very quickly, I can easily make a pair while watching
TV in the evening.
I hope you'll come again soon,
you never know what you'll find on
Kristie Kreates!

Crochet Slippers

Hello everyone!
Today it's stocking stuffers that I made for Marie
for Christmas.
This pattern is one that I found and wanted to make
for some family and friends, but I didn't have the right
size hook or the yarn. More on those at a later date.
I decided to just give it a try with a small hook to see how
they would work up.
Low and behold, they worked up just right
for Marie.
This is the first pair I made as a test and they worked up
beautifully.
One day Sara was in Joann's and found a ball of yarn for
$1.00 in a clearance bin and thought
"Mom could do something with this."
and bought it for me.
Of course purple is her favorite color.
I'm sure she was probably hoping for something like this.
I think these turned out really cute too.

Thanks for the visit, I hope you've been
enjoying seeing the things I made for Christmas
gifts.  Stay tuned, there are more to come.
Yes!  I was a very crafty gal for Christmas
this year.
Until next time,
keep your tootsies warm!

Knitted Scarves

Hello!
Today I'm showing you a couple scarfs I made for
my granddaughter for Christmas.
I had made a set for her for her birthday and
thought since I had yarn left I should make her
another scarf to match.
I decided to make up a pattern as I went
Here is the first one I made.
Still having more yarn left, I made another one and
did a basket weave pattern. I ran out of this yarn
right at the end of the scarf.
I had just enough to finish off the pattern and weave
in the end.

Do you knit or crochet?
I've really gotten back to it recently and am
totally enjoying it.
Thanks for stopping,
I hope you're having a wonderful day.
Come again soon,
until then,
knit on!

The Office Beer Glasses

Hi all!
Are you a fan of The Office?
I'm not, but my son is.
He had mentioned that he needed some
beer glasses for when his friends came over, so
I bought him some for Christmas.
I wanted to do something different with them,
not just give him plain glasses.
Sara suggested something from The Office.
I found images online that I could cut with
my Silhouette Cameo and made stencils from
vinyl.  I then used Armour Etch etching cream
to etch them.
I have to apologize for the poor pictures,
I had a heck of a time getting pictures of
the etching on the glasses.
I'm sorry, I don't even know this character's name,
but if you are a fan, you'll probably know,
"That's what she said"
Is right next to him on the glass.
This was the hardest to photograph,
it says Schrute Farms.
These 3 are all together on one glass
Bears..................
Beets..................
Battlestar Galactica
And of course
Dunder Mifflin Inc
paper company.
I had fun making these up for Jaryd,
even though I don't get the meaning of them
all.  LOL  I knew he would get the meaning
and that's the important thing.

I hope you enjoyed your visit,
maybe you're inspired to give etching
a try.  It's really quite easy,
Hope I'll see you again soon.
Until then,
give etching a try.

Yoda Potter Shirts

Hello blog friends!
Today I'm showing you the shirts that I gave
Jaryd, Sara and Marie for Christmas.
It all started because I found this gray shirt that
I had gotten for Jaryd and wanted to put something
onto it with HTV (heat transfer vinyl)
Sara suggested Baby Yoda and when I went online,
I found this, I call him Yoda Potter.
So I bought the svg.
I was making this for Jaryd and Sara suggested
that I make one for Marie too.
She had the perfect shirt for it.
So I made one for Marie too.
When she saw them she wanted one too.
She had said she should have said to make Marie's
in Ravensclaw colors, so when I made Sara's
I made hers in Hufflepuff colors, since she is
a Hufflepuff.  She said Marie is a Ravensclaw,
because she is so smart and we'll go with that
until she is 11 and we find out which house she
really belongs in.
Guess you can tell that we are real Harry Potter fans,
as well as Star Wars and Mandalorians.
The HTV  that I used for his face, hands and feet is
called Chameleon HTV and it changes color
with the lighting.  You can see that it looks somewhat
different on each shirt.
The rest of the HTV is just regular HTV
I think these shirts came out adorable and actually
made one for someone else for Christmas too.
I've had a lot of fun with my
Silhouette Cameo, making Christmas gifts.
You'll be seeing more of them soon.

Thanks for stopping by,
I hope you have enjoyed seeing my
projects and will come again soon.
Until then,
something new, you should try.

Alphabet Book

Hello!  Welcome to my blog!
Today I have another book that I made for my
granddaughter for Christmas.
This one is an alphabet book.
The cover was made using canvas sprayed with
The first page has a pocket with a message for
Marie.
Each pocket and tag in the book are laminated.
Each letter of the alphabet has a tag with a picture
on one side,
and a word on the other side.
B - baby
C - cookies
The pictures are pictures that I took.
All except one picture, which is noted below.
Each pocket also has some washi tape that embellishes
it along the side.  I tried to match the color of the ribbon
to the color of the tape.
D - Daddy
E - eyes
F - flowers
G - Grandparents
(Grandpa's picture is on the other side)
H - hand
I - ice
J - jack o lantern
K - (Auntie) Kelsie
L - Leaf
M - Mommy
N - nose
O - orange
P - pizza
Q - q-tips
R - rings
(this is the only one I didn't take
it was taken by the photographer at
 Jaryd and Sara's wedding)
S - sweater
T - Toes
U - Uncle Brian
V - vegetables
W - waterfall
X - x-ray
Y - yogurt
Z - (Aunt) Zoe
Now I know my ABCs
and this is the back of the book.
I'm thrilled with how this turned out.
I look at all the electronic toys that she has
and what's out there, but I really feel that she will
learn a lot from this book.
Especially since she and others she knows and
loves are featured in it.
Sometimes the old ways work great.

Thanks for visiting,
I hope you have enjoyed your time here and have
been inspired in some way.
Come again soon,
until then,
have a better than average day!

Colors and Numbers Book

Hello crafty people!
Today I'm showing you one of the gifts I made
for my granddaughter for Christmas.
This is a color and number book.
I've made a few projects similar to this in the past,
but never put them into a book like this.
I thoroughly enjoyed making it.
The cover is made with canvas.
I had just gotten a pad of canvas at a clearance sale, so
it worked out perfect for this project.
I used various colors of
to color the canvas.  I love how it turned out.
On the first page, I put a pocket with a tag with a
message for Marie and added a piece of paper colored
like the cover.
Then the fun begins,
each page has a library pocket that I laminated with
a tag, also laminated, that has a color and number.
As you can see, this one had one red heart.
I have the color spelled out along the side of each page.
Each tag was made with different techniques.
Some were stamped, some were drawn and cut out.
Some were simple shapes and some were heat embossed.
Some were done with ink and stencils.
I also matched the ribbon on the top with the color
for that tag.
Here is the back of the book.
I think it turned out darling and I hope Marie will
love it and learn from it.

Thanks for stopping by today,
I hope the new year is starting out great for you.
Come visit again soon.
Until then,
stay safe and stay healthy.

Chair

Hello and Welcome!
Today I have a different kind of project to show y'all.
I'm in a Buy Nothing Group and I saw this chair offered,
so I said I'd love it for my granddaughter and was
lucky enough to get it.
I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it.
I started out by sanding it down to take off the
finish so the paint would grab on.
I spray painted it with white, in the areas I knew
needed a white background.
I cut out polka dots with vinyl, to use as masks and
stuck them on the seat of the chair.
Then painted it with red paint.
I punched out circles from vinyl to make masks
and put them on the seat of the chair to protect the white.
Once this has a few coats of paint I can remove
the vinyl dots to reveal the white polka dots.
The bow was a few steps.
First I cut a bow from vinyl with my
Silhouette Cameo and removed the bow to use
the rest as a stencil.  I punched the little polka dots
with a small punch.
Once the bow was done, I removed the vinyl
stencil and put the vinyl bow over the area painted red.
This protected the red bow and white dots from the black paint.
Then I covered the seat with paper and painters tape
to protect it from black paint splashes and painted
the rest of the chair in black.
I had also made a mask of vinyl for Marie's name
on the back of the chair.
Once the black painting was done,
I removed the mask.
There is a bit of touch up to be done
A bit of touch up needed on the bow too.
Once all the painting was done,
I realized that it needed a finishing coat or the paint
would end up chipped and scratched.
I used Minwax Polycrylic and gave the
chair several coats.
And, here is the finished chair.
It's not prefect by any means, but I'm happy
with how it turned out.
I think this is something she and my
son and daughter in law will cherish for
a long time to come.

Thanks for stopping by,  I hope you like
my little chair and are somehow inspired.
I hope to see you again soon,
until then,
have fun in the new year!
