HP Birthday Card

Hello crafty friends!
Today I have a birthday card to show you.
The young man this was made for is a real
Harry Potter fan, which I am too, so I decided a
Harry card would be perfect for him.
I had some Harry Potter themed paper and thought this
Gryffindor image would be perfect, especially since
he and I are both from that house.
Inside I added a little joke with a scratch off area
with the answer under it.
"How do you get a mythical creature into your house?"
Answer:  Through the Gryffindor!
He loved it.
Here is a picture of my little Harry lover.
The onesie is one that I made for her.
Jaryd is reading the books to her already
and she's loving it.

Thanks for stopping by,
come again soon.
Until then:
read a good book,
maybe a Harry Potter one!

Our Challenge Swap

Hello and welcome to
Kristie Kreates!
I'm way behind in posting this Challenge Swap.
The theme for this one was
Hearts, Hugs and Happiness
I made this shaker card to go along with the
projects that I made.
I ran a piece of acrylic through the Cuttlebug
with an embossing folder to emboss hearts onto
the acrylic for the window.
I made this little "brag book"
The tin is intended to be for a gift card, but I
put a fold out "album" inside.
The gal that received it, is a proud Grandma,
so I knew she's have pictures for it.
Here it shows it partially unfolded,
I believe there is space for 15 pictures.
I also made this little tic tac toe game for her to
play with the grandchildren.
She loved everything I sent and I'm sure she'll
find some great pictures to put into her
"album"

Thanks for stopping by today,
come back again soon.
You never know what you'll find on

Valentine for Marie

Hello Everyone!
Happy Valentine's Day!
This year I have the pleasure of having a
very special Valentine.
It's our first Valentine's Day with our Granddaughter.
I decided that I wanted to knit her a sweater and I had
been eyeing this yarn for quite a while.
I finally found the pattern book I wanted and
bought the yarn and made the sweater.
This was my first cardigan and although it isn't
perfect, I do love how it turned out.
If I were to make another one for her, I wouldn't put as many
buttons on it, I think the 8 they suggested was a little bit too much
and I'm not crazy for how they sit, but I think for a first
cardigan, I did a pretty good job.
I wanted to have different colored buttons, but couldn't
find all the colors I wanted, so I went with the yellow buttons
and sewed them on with yarn that matched the stripe they
were on.
Here is the card I made to go with the sweater.
I found a colorful piece in my handmade background stash,
then embossed the
The sentiment is from a set I got on clearance
without a package, so I have no idea who made it.
I also heat embossed the edges of a piece of card
stock with the same powder to use as a mat for the
image.

Unicorn Birthday Card

Hello everyone!
I hope you're having a fabulous day.
Today I'm showing you a card I made for our
Goddaughter for her birthday.
She does love her unicorns, so of course, it had
to be a unicorn card.
When Pat Catan's, in the Toledo, Ohio area, was
closing they had a great deal on some foam stamp sets.
Of course I picked up every kind they had and one set
was mythical creatures.
I stamped this unicorn with silver and gold
I used make up brushes as blending brushes to
apply Distress Ink for the background
I scattered some sequins around to finish it off.
Inside I stamped a simple
At the top of the inside I added a joke,
"What do unicorns call their Dad?"
I wrote the answer and covered it with
I stuck a penny next to the scratch off area,
so she could scratch it off right away.
Answer?....... Popcorn.  lol

So glad you stopped by today and hope
you'll come again soon.
Until then:
try something a little different.

Dorky Bird Card and Cool Cat Envelope

Hello and welcome back!
My last post was a card I made for a little guy
turning 6.  Today I have the card I made for his twin
sister.
I again used an alcohol ink background.
I stamped "Dorky Bird" with
and colored it with colored pencils and
fussy cut the image.
I stamped the Hello and cut it into a banner
and adhered the images with foam tape.
For the envelope I stamped
"Cool Cat"
and colored him with colored pencils also.
I love how this card and envelope turned out
and I think the little gal they are going to will
like them too.

Thanks for stopping by,
I hope you have been inspired in some way.
Hope to see you again soon,
until then,
Happy Crafting!

Party Poopers Birthday Card adn a Fishy Envelope

Hi Everyone!
Today I have a card to show you.
Recently a mom in a group I'm in on Facebook
posted that he twins are turning 6 yrs old and that they
love opening mail.  She asked if anyone would be
willing to send them cards for their birthday, just so they
would have them to open from the mail.
Being a card maker, I was happy to help out.
This is the card I made for her little guy.
The background piece was made with alcohol inks
I thought it was a great background for a celebration.
The dogs are Party Poopers
I stamped the image with
and colored them with colored pencils.
I fussy cut the image and adhered it to the background
with foam tape to give it a little dimension.
I stamped the Celebrate with an alpha stamp set
from my stash, I have no idea what company they are from.
I then fussy cut around it to make a banner shape.
The whole thing was then adhered to a white card base.
Inside I simply stamped "Happy Birthday"
I made the envelope with my
and decided to decorate it.
I stamped the fish onto the envelope, then stamped them
onto scrap paper and fussy cut them to make a mask.
I put the mask over the fish (Sm Fat Fish & Lg Fat Fish)
and used Distress Inks to
apply the 'water' to the envelope.
After taking the masks off the fish I colored them with
colored pencils.
I covered the colored areas with
which is a glaze that makes it water resistant,
so the inks and coloring won't be ruined if they get wet.
I think the little guy will get a kick out of receiving
this in the mail.

Thanks for spending time with me today,
I hope you have enjoyed it here at
Kristie Kreates
and will come again soon.
Next up, the card I made for the other twin.
