Today I have two cards to show you. This first one I had the idea for quite a while ago. I had printed the sentiment onto the white cardstock and it was sitting waiting to be finished. Finally got it finished!

I used some red cardstock from my stash, of course! The stamps are "To The Point" by Stampendous. I laid out all the arrow stamps on the cardstock, then pressed the acrylic block onto them so they would cling to the block. Using Onyx Black Versafine ink, I stamped them onto the red cardstock.

The red cardstock was adhered to the white base which was cut to 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" folded at 4 1/2". Using a red Zig pen and a white Ultimate Gel Pen, I made dash lines, rounded the bottom corners with my Corner Chomper and my card was done.
This second card is a card for my great niece Alexandrea's birthday. The base is white cardstock cut to 11" x 4 1/4" folded at 5 1/2" I used a EK Success 1" circle punch to punch circles from scraps from my stash. I cut each of those circles in half to make the scallops along the bottom of the card topping them with some fiber trim.
I also used those 1/2 circles around the 2" circle, also punched with an EK Success punch, to make the large flower. I used a large button tied with some white yarn, both from my stash, for the middle of the flower.
The "Celebrate" is a stamp from a Studio G $1.00 acrylic stamp set.
I think this card turned out very pretty for a beautiful young girl like my great niece.

Using the Cuttlebug

On my last post, my friend, Jen, commented that she would like to see some things where I used my Cuttlebug, so here are a couple cards that I made using the paper embossed with the Cuttlebug. Before I had my own Cuttlebug, I embossed a lot of paper on my friend Mary's Cuttlebug and have it in my stash. Since I did these a while ago, I don't know the names of the folders I used. Sorry!

This first card I used a blue cardstock that I embossed on Mary's Cuttlebug. I liked the look of the de-bossed side of the paper, the swirls reminded me of swirling wind and snow.

The sentiment and snowman are from "Snowy Jo" a Snag'em Stamp set by Imaginisce. I colored the hat, scarf and mittens with watercolor pencils and punched him out with an EK Success circle punch. I used a glue pen to "color in" the snowman then dipped him in glitter. "Winter Wishes" was punched out then trimmed to the half circle.

The snowflakes were punched with the Creative Memories snowflake punch, put through my Xyron and then dipped into glitter.

All the elements were adhered with foam tape to the blue cardstock, then it was adhered to the white cardstock with my ATG tape gun.

For this 2nd card I ran my Memento Summer Sky Dew Drop ink pad over the embossed snowflakes to give the flakes more demension. This is such an easy technique and give a wonderful tone on tone look. You could use a totally different color for a different look. Maybe I will post something with that look soon.
I love this little penguin, but I have no idea what company he is from, but he is adorable, isn't he?!?! I colored him with water color pencils then 'fussy cut' him. He is adhered with foam tape.
I just got some Jewelry Fundamentals Braiding Cord the other day at Tuesday Mornings. (Love that store!) I simply wound the cord around the embossed piece and adhered it with tape to the back.
Then sentiment, which is hard to see in this picture, "Peace Hope Joy" is a stamp from Denami Design. I love the little snow flakes around the words and thought they fit in great with that embossed cardstock. I used foam tape to pop this up so the cording could run under the sentiment.
It is all adhered to a white cardstock base. This card, as well as the one above, are standard size cards measuring 4 1/4" x 5 1/2".

Glitter

Last night I got on a roll and made 4 cards! Woo hoo! The last several days I hadn't been 'feeling it' if you know what I mean. Serious lack of creativity! I'm posting 2 of the cards I made.
This first card is a 5 1/2" square card. The rose stamp is Bella Rose lg from B Line Designs. I have had this stamp for a while and haven't really used it. I love it, but it is large, too large for a standard sized card. But this card will fit in a large envelope with some extra room on the sides, so it won't cost any extra postage.
I stamped the image with Black Onyx Versafine ink and painted it with my watercolor crayons. I think I'm getting the hang of the shading and what colors to use for the shading and blending.
Once I had it colored, I 'fussy cut' it. Before adhering it to the card with foam tape I wanted to do something with that kraft cardstock. So I used this technique to make the glitter stripes. Once that was done, I drew some dash lines and dots with a white gel pen, put the card together and was done.
I really love how this card turned out.

This second card is an oversized card, measuring 6" x 7" The image is one that I got from Stampin Up! It was a hostess gift and I wanted it so badly, but wasn't willing to have a party, I think it was from a past catalog anyway. I was at my friend Jess' for a party and mentioned it and the demo was kind enough to sell me an extra that she had. I was so thrilled! I love this stamp, sooo pretty!
Again, I used my watercolor crayons and Versafine ink for this image. I wanted to do something a little different so I cut the card front larger and used the same technique for the glitter as I did on the card above. It is a little hard to see the glitter, as it is about the same color as the cardstock. Sorry about that!

Here is a view of the card showing the inside. I used a piece of white cardstock that is smaller than the front, but the same size as the image on the front. I just thought it gave it a little different feel.
I'm really happy with how this one turned out too.
Leave me a comment and let me know what you think of these cards.

For my nephew's wedding

I have been helping my 'almost niece' with things for the wedding. Here is the latest thing that she had me make. It is a 'sign' for the baskets in the bathrooms where they will have asprin, hairspray etc. for their guests use.

I can't take credit for the design, as I made it from a picture that she sent me. She even bought all the supplies, then realized that she "can't cut a straight line" as she says. I hope she likes how they turned out, I think she will.

Thanks for stopping by, leave me a comment if you wish. I always like to know who has stopped in and what y'all think.

Layouts, one happy, one sad

Sunday I went to My Happy Place for a "Potluck Crop". What a great time! There were 8 of us in all and we each brought something to contribute to dinner. Great food, great company and I even got some layouts done. And a good start on a project.

Here are the layouts that I did. One happy and one sad. The first one is the sad one.

This beautiful young man move on to a better place last December. His parents are crafters that Dave has known for years and when Barb called twice and left messages for Dave to call, I knew something was wrong. Eric had been diagnosed with Lymphoma and had been having chemo treatments. On his 18th day of chemo he had a very bad stroke and shortly after that he passed away. Such a wonderful kid, not quite 17 yrs old.
Barb is from our area and her family organized a memorial for him about a month ago, which Dave and I attended. It was beautifully done, but so heart wrenching. One thing that stays with me was what his Grandfather said at his funeral, "God could see what a wonderful giving person Eric was and He needed him in Heaven to help Him do His work"

Once the video about Eric was finished, Dave and I both had to send a text to Jaryd telling him how much we love him. I can't imagine losing my child. I did this layout above as a memorial to Eric.

This second layout is my 'happy' layout. These are pictures from our first dance as husband and wife. Yes, we've been married since 1988 and I'm just getting around to scrapping about it. Way far behind!!!

It is so fun to look at the pictures. When I looked a the finished layout I was commenting on the men in our wedding party "Wow, look at that Kim still has dark hair, not gray and Kevin still has red hair and Kenny still has hair!" Of course, I still have glasses, but they aren't covering half my face! OMG! our glasses were so huge! This layout makes me smile.

Ribbon flower

The other day I was at Joann's and found some great ribbons on clearance, so I had to pick them up. One was the sheer brown wired ribbon I used on this card below.

I decided to see what would happen if I pulled on the wire on one side of the ribbon. WELL, let me tell you, it just gathered up and curled around into a flower shape. All I had to do was work the wire through the center and twist it with the wire on the other end. Now I had a flower. It needed something in the center, so I took a 'jewel' from the stash jar and used some Glossy Accents to adhere the jewel to a brad. Once it was dried, I put it through the center to finish off the flower.
I made the card from some brown card stock in my stash and a scrap of yellow from my scrap stash. I used a Martha Stewart corner punch and border punch for the edges of the yellow. Then adhered it to the brown and stamped 'good friend' onto the yellow.
I used white card stock and a border of yellow on the inside of the card to give a space to write.
I did try to make some flowers like this with other wired ribbon and it didn't work very well. Seems that it only wants to work with this very fine sheer ribbon. So guess what I did!?!?! I went to Joann's to see if there was any more on clearance. I did find one black and white ribbon that I think will work.

Something new for me......digital!

Recently I was lucky enough to win a prize on Going Buggy which is one of my favorite blogs. Enfys, not only is a very talented crafter, she also posts some of the funniest narratives I have the pleasure to read. A few weeks back I won a prize from her. (Thank you Enfys!!!) It is a Jingle Jangle Christmas CD from Polkadoodles. This CD is packed full of images and patterns to print from my computer. Last night I took the time to look through the files and print off a few of the images. Below are the cards I made with images from that CD.
For this first card, I used basic white cardstock cut to 4" x 8" scored at 4" I used a piece of patterned paper from my stash and layered that onto the white cardstock. The trees along the bottom were printed from the Jingle Jangle Christmas CD. The adorable bird in the Santa hat was also printed from the CD onto white cardstock. I think he is just the cutest little guy. I used some dash marks around the bird and around the sentiment, just to add a little interest and definition. The sentiment is from a $1.00 set I got at one of the big craft stores. I fussy cut the little tree above the sentiment from a left over piece of the border.
For this card I used one of the patterns from the Jingle Jangle Christmas CD as well as the sweet little penguin image. I printed the patterned paper as it was on the CD, then I lightened it and printed it again. I punched a circle with a punch to go behind the penguin from the darker print and inked the edges. The lighter print I cut to size, cut part of a circle out of it, inked its edges, tied a piece of ribbon from my stash around it and adhered it with foam tape to a base of white cardstock.
I fussy cut the penguin and attached him to the circle with foam tape and adhered it to the card with ATG tape. The sentiment was another from a $1.00 set from one of the big craft stores.

This last little cutie I punched out with a circle punch. I then punched out several smaller circles and attached them to the back of the penguin forming a kind of flower around him. I attached the "penguin flower" with foam tape, then adhered the other larger circles to the front of the card. At that point I felt that it really needed something, so I drew dash lines around the circles. Still didn't look right, so I took another small circle and attached it with repositional adhesive in various spots and outlined it with dash lines. Ah yes! That did it! I rounded the corners and was done.
I didn't know if I would like doing digital images, Enfys said it would be easy and she was right. This CD has so many wonderful patterns and images, I know I am going to put it to good use.

Pea in a Pod 1

When my friend Milissa told me she was pregnant, I started taking pictures. Every week I took a picture of her standing sideways. I did this from the time I found out until she had the baby. Between now and that time a lot has happened. I couldn't find the pictures, the idea I had didn't work out, the pictures got printed and buried on my craft table, but finally I decided it was time to do something with them. What spurred me on to do this? The birth of her 2nd child. The first little guy, Frankie, is now 3 1/2 yrs old. Guess it was about time, eh? Below you will find some pictures of the pages I did with the pictures of her. They aren't the best quality pictures, but I did the best with what I had, sorry for the glare and flashback.

I could only upload 5 pictures per post, so it is split into 2 posts. Hopefully, I will get them posted in the right order! The cover of the 8x8 book that I chose has an area for a title and I titled this book Pea in a Pod and put it on with a rub on. Thanks to my friends Danielle and Jen, who had lots of 8x8 paper, I didn't have to cut the papers all down, which made this project even easier. Without further ado, here is my Pea in a Pod book for Milissa.

Hopefully, I have posted these correctly and the next 5 pages will be in the next post.

Pea in a Pod 2

There is one more page in this book. The last page has a mat for a 4x6 picture and a space for Milissa to add Frankies name, birthdate etc.
I hope you have enjoyed these posts about Milissa's book. I sure enjoyed making it and she is going to be so surprised when I give it to her!
Thanks for stopping by, leave me a comment and let me know what you think. Have a better than averaged day!
