One Year Ago

Hello blog fans!

Today is my daughter and son in law's first anniversary.

I thought I'd show you some of the pictures I've been 

working with for their scrapbooks of the wedding.

Yes, I said scrapbooks!
When I did Jaryd and Sara's wedding it ended up

being 6 full books and I'm pretty sure Kelsie and Brad's

will be about the same.
I don't have the layouts photographed yet and I have

so many more to do!
I will be sharing some of them very soon though.

Anniversary Card

Good day blog fans!

Today I'm showing you the Anniversary card I mad

for our son and daughter in law.

I stamped the
Large Knot Heart

from Eureka stamps, now sold through 

Stamp On It, onto card stock with VersaMark ink.

I then heat embossed it with silver embossing powder.

The sentiment was also heat embossed, but on

silver vellum.

The sentiment was wrapped around the image

panel and adhered to the back.

I then layered it onto white card stock and 

more of the silver vellum, then onto a 

card base.

Since this card was a odd size, I made my own

envelope with the 
We R Memory Keepers Envelope Punch Board.

3rd Anniversary

Hello blog fans!

My son and daughter in law celebrated their

3rd anniversary on September 29th and

Sara asked me to help her with a card for Jaryd.

Since they don't have a printer, she asked if I could

whip up a card for her.
She sent me this info and I happily made the card for her.

I printed the front panel in purple onto white card stock.

I used an embossing folder with little hearts to

emboss the purple mat for the sentiment.

Then adhered both pieces to a piece of silver

vellum.

Since purple and gray were the colors for their

wedding I thought this was perfect for this card.
The card was just a little too big for an A2 envelope, 

so I made one for the card with a gray card stock.

I think this card turned out very nice and I hope

they both like it too.

Happy Anniversary!

Hello crafty people!

A couple weekends ago a couple friends

and I organized a 4 day crop and celebrated 10 yrs

of cropping and crafting together.

One of the gals made cupcakes and I made these little

 decorations for the top of them.

I used a banner die and cut from all different colors of 

scrap card stock.  I then stamped the Happy Anniversary

sentiment onto them and embossed it with 

silver embossing powder.

I used glue dots to stick the banners onto 

toothpicks.  Simple, quick and easy and they 

looked cute on the cupcakes.

Unfortunately, this was the only thing I got any

pictures of from our crop.

Guess I was worn out from the wedding the week

before and I didn't think of taking pictures of any of

the other prep or fun.

In fact I took these pictures after the event.

Sometimes we just get bogged down and forget

things.  LOL

The good thing is that the event was a big success.
Now on to planning our next one for the spring.

Anniversary cards

Hello blog fans!

Today I have a couple Anniversary cards to show you.

My friend Emma and her husband just celebrated their

50th wedding anniversary.

I was invited to a party for them, but I couldn't attend.

I couldn't let their party go by without making a card for them.

I made 2 cards and now have one in reserve for the next time

I need one.

This is the card I sent them.

The background was made by smooshing Distress Inks

onto watercolor paper using a piece of acrylic.

I'm sorry it doesn't show up better, but it turned out 

really pretty.  For the hearts I cut out a heart shape from a piece 

of card stock, placed it onto white card stock and smooched

over it with VersaMark ink, covered it with silver embossing powder

and heated it with my heat gun until melted.  I made 2 hearts this way

and fussy cut them and adhered them to the background with foam tape.

The Happy Anniversary sentiment is from Eureka Stamps.

I stamped it onto silver vellum and heat embossed it with 

silver embossing powder.

After wrapping it around the background panel, I adhered the panel 

to a white card base.

Inside I wrote a personal note to Emma and Charles.

This is the other card that I made.

I ran a piece of white card stock through my Cuttlebug

in an embossing folder and embossed tiny hearts covering the 

panel.  I cut out a heart from a piece of card stock and used it as 

a stencil and "colored" the heart using Nuvo Mousse in gold.

The sentiment strip was made the same way as the one above,

but I used white embossing powder.

I added strips of silver vellum at the top and bottom of the

embossed panel and adhered it to the white card base with

foam tape.

Eureka! Stamps Challenge - Add Some Bling

It's Monday, so that means it's time for another 

Eureka! Stamps Challenge.

This weeks challenge is

"Add Some Bling"

I chose to use

"Lg Filagree Heart" (#24601) and

"Happy Anniversary" (#9004) both from

Eureka! Stamps

I stamped the heart and the sentiment onto

black card stock with VersaMark Ink 

and heat embossed them with 

white embossing powder.

I then trimmed them out, adhered them to some 

light purple vellum and cut around them leaving a

little border.

I then adhered them to the card base.

For the "bling" I added pearl accents in a

coordinating color.

challenge as a design team member,

Anniversary Card

I was looking for something to work on one day at 

My Happy Place

where I do most of my card making and scrapbooking,

and I came across a kit that was from a crop that we'd had

quite a while ago.

I thought I may as well put that together. 

This is what I ended up with.

The little squares were embossed using various embossing folders

The heart was also embossed with a folder.

The sentiment is 

"Happy Anniversary" (#9004) from 

Eureka! Stamps 

A very easy card to make.

For my card I used

"Lg Filagree Heart"  (#24601) 

"Happy Anniversary"  (#9004) from

Eureka! Stamps

I started by stamping the heart with red ink onto white card stock.

I fussy cut the heart and added 

a few different sizes of pearls to the heart.

The Happy Anniversary was heat embossed with white embossing powder.

For a perfect mat I used Perfect Layers Mini Tools from

Perfect Paper Crafting

The heart and sentiment were added to the red panel with 

foam tape.

Happy Anniversary & Tissue Tape

Last week, I posted my monthly crafts tutorial on

Mashed Potatoes and Crafts

The tutorial shows how easy it is to make your own tissue tape.

If you haven't seen it, you should pop over and take a look.

Today I'm posting the 2 cards that I made with the tissue tape.

This first one I like much better than the other one.

There is such a big difference in the look of the tissue tape

on the white card stock rather than on the black.

Eureka! Stamps Challenge - Teal or Turquois

It's time for another Eureka! Stamps Challenge.

This week our theme is
"Teal or Turquoise"

I decided to use

"Peacock Feather" (#6301) and

"Happy Anniversary" (#9004)

from Eureka! Stamps

I stamped the Peacock Feather randomly on a piece of white card stock with VersaMark ink.  I then brushed mica powders over the stamped image.

Mica powders are available through Eureka! Stamps.

When you go to the online store, search "mica powder" and you will find several different color sets to choose from. 

I used the same technique for the sentiment, then added a bit of extra powder and rubbed it on with a make up sponge to color the background.

I find if you just brush it on lightly it will stick to the VersaMark,

but if you give it a good rub, it will stick to the paper.

Once I was happy with the coloring, I sprayed the pieces lightly with hair spray.  Yes, you read that right, hair spray.  It works as a fixative, just be sure to use an aerosol spray, not a pump style.

It only needs a very light spray.

I know this isn't a very good picture,

but I wanted you to see the shimmer of  the mica powders.

Happy Anniversary

October marks 5 years that My Happy Place has been open.

We, therefore, planned an anniversary crop.

One of the things we decided for the crop,

was that we should have a card for everyone to make.

So I worked up this card and made up a kit for each participant.

I used a variety of embossing folder to emboss white card stock.

I then cut them into squares.

I hand drew the hearts and cut them into templates,

 traced them onto card stock and hand cut them,

before running them through the Cuttlebug to emboss them.

 I think it's easier to handcut the shape before it's embossed.

I stamped

"Happy Anniversary" (#9004) from Eureka! Stamps

onto the same card stock as the background

and added a piece to the bottom that was punched

with a Fiskar's border punch. 

This was attached to the card with foam tape.

"heart" U

One of my favorite blogs is Kristina Werner's, she has some amazing designs and the best videos. I saw a card similar to this on her blog and loved it, so I have used it for inspiration.

I didn't have a U stamp with me when I made this card, so I made my own.

I cut out several U's with the Sizzix and ran them all through the Xyron sticker maker, then layered them onto one another.  I used my Fiskar's Stamp Press and stuck my homemade stamp to it and used Versamark ink to stamp it randomly onto the blue cardstock.

I used a pair of zig zag scissors to cut the paper and adhered it to the white cardstock base.

I stamped one more U onto the blue and cut it out, stuck it to white cardstock and cut it with a bit of white showing.

The heart was punched with a tiny heart punch and the dashes were done with a white pen.

I then stamped the sentiment which is

"Happy Anniversary" from the "Happy Birthday" set

(#22803) from QKR Stampede

I think this is a fun little card and was very simple to make.

Happy Anniversary!

Hi stamping friends!

Today I have an anniversary card to show you. 

 Our anniversary is coming soon and my husband and I love Ireland and Celtic designs, so I thought the

"Shamrock Border" (#40502) from Eureka! Stamps

would be perfect for a card for him. 

The "Happy Anniversary" (#9004) also from Eureka! Stamps,

was perfect for this card.

For the green area of the card, I tore a piece of paper and laid it over the white card stock.  I used green distress ink to ink over the paper.

The "Shamrock Border"  was embossed with gold embossing powder onto a separate piece of card stock then adhered to the card.

The Happy Anniversary was also embossed with gold powder.

To finish the card off, I used some gold thread and wrapped it around the top of the card.

I think my husband will like this card, I hope you do too.

QKR May Flowers Blog Hop

This month we are featuring some of the fabulous flower images that

QKR Stampede has to offer.  I have here a card I made with the "Flower Blossom" stamp (#19701)

I stamped it onto watercolor paper and colored it with watercolor crayons. 

If you have never tried stamping onto watercolor paper and you use watercolor crayons or watercolor pencils, you should give it a try.  I just started using this type of paper and it is wonderful to work on.  I'm really loving it!
