Letterpress Cards

Welcome to Kristie Kreates!
I'm glad you here to spend a little time with me.
Today I'm showing you a couple
letterpress cards.
Letterpress is when printing or an image is pressed
into the paper/card stock
I used embossing folders to do this letter press
technique.
I inked up the raised side of the embossing folder,
put the card stock into the folder and ran it through
my Cuttlebug.
I have found that a light hand with the ink works
best for me, but it's kind of a hit or miss until you
find the right amount or color of ink.
Sometimes, I will do a second generation printing,
where I run it through once, then without inking up the
folder again, run it through with another piece of card stock.
It all depends on how much ink you have on the folder and
also the color of ink.
I cut the little birds from a die set that I have
in my stash and added them to the fronts of the cards.
I really love that pop of color.
For one of the cards, I used this little die cut bird
on the inside of the card, just to add a little pop of color
and interest.
I love this technique and should remember to use it more often.

Thanks for coming by today for a visit,
I hope you'll come again soon.
Until then,
try some letter press printing.

Happy Anniversary

October marks 5 years that My Happy Place has been open.
We, therefore, planned an anniversary crop.
One of the things we decided for the crop,
was that we should have a card for everyone to make.
So I worked up this card and made up a kit for each participant.
I used a variety of embossing folder to emboss white card stock.
I then cut them into squares.
I hand drew the hearts and cut them into templates,
traced them onto card stock and hand cut them,
before running them through the Cuttlebug to emboss them.
I think it's easier to handcut the shape before it's embossed.
I stamped
"Happy Anniversary" (#9004) from Eureka! Stamps
onto the same card stock as the background
and added a piece to the bottom that was punched
with a Fiskar's border punch.
This was attached to the card with foam tape.

Thank you for stopping by today.
I hope my card has inspired you in some way.
Leave a comment if you will and come again soon.

Until next time, Happy Crafting!

Love Bear

Hello everyone and welcome to my post for the newest
This weeks theme is "Animal Madness"
I chose to use
"Love Bear" (#10604) from QKR Stampede
for my card.
I just love this little guy.  Is he cute or what?!?!
I colored him with FlexMarkers, fussy cut him
and attached him with foam tape.
The yellow card stock was embossed with an
embossing folder run through the Cuttlebug.

Wouldn't this make an adorable card for a new baby?
Or maybe to hide for one of your children to find?
It would bring a smile to my face if someone left this for me.

QKR Stampede, not only has lots of adorable bear images,
but they also have many other animal images
to choose from in unmounted red rubber
and digital format stamps.
Why not stop in and see their wide variety of stamps?

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you got some inspirations and will join in the fun at the QKR Stampede blog where you will find all the particulars about the challenge and more 'animal' inspiration.

Until next time, Happy Crafting!

Pumpkin love

Today is the kick off for the latest QKR Stampede Challenge!
The theme is "Fall Fun"
Be sure to pop over to the QKR Stampede Blog for all the particulars!
Someone's going to win those digital stamps, why not YOU?!?!
I chose to use
"Autumn Friends" (#9206) from QKR Stampede
for my challenge card.
I love these little cuties and colored them with FlexMarkers.
I used an embossing folder and put it through the Cuttlebug for the background.  I then used a sanding block to sand it and bring out the inside color of the Core'dinations card stock.

Here is another picture to show how foam tape gives the image dimension when used to adhere it to the card.
I hope you will be inspired to join the QKR Stampede Challenge,
do some embossing, color an image, make a card or project.
Leave a comment if you will and be sure to check out the fun images that QKR Stampede has to offer in red rubber and digital stamps.
Come again soon!
Until next time, Happy Crafting!

Best Friends Embossed

Today's card is another Tim Holtz inspiration.  I love this technique of embossing clear plastic.  Again, I used a piece of laminating film, but could just as well have used some recycled packaging. I embossed it with my Cuttlebug and the Snowflakes Embossing folder.
The image is from QKR Stampede and is titled Best Friends (#23502) I stamped it onto white card stock and colored it with water color crayons.  I used Icicle Stickles to give the snowman some nice sparkle.  I love the Icicle Stickles, depending on the light and angle, they show up different colors.  Sometimes blue, sometimes purple or pink.
I layered the image onto a piece of scrap pink paper from my scrap stash, then attached the embossed laminating film to it with pink brads.

This was then adhered to a blue card base with ATG Tape.  I love the look of the embossed snowflakes over the image!  What do you think?  Leave me a comment and let me know.

Thanks for stopping by today to see my card.  I hope you enjoyed it.
Until next time, Happy Crafting!

Inspired by Tim Holtz!!!

I don't know if y'all are familiar with Tim Holtz, but he is the crafting, inking, embossing, tag making guru of the world! And I just love that man!  Although his style is much different than anything I ever make, his techniques are amazing and can be used with just about any style.  For 12 days this month he hosted The 12 Tags of Christmas on his blog and each and every one was absolutely amazing!  I learned so much from just these 12 posts!
Today's tag was inspired by one of his tags and a technique he used on it.
I started out by stamping Ice Skating (#7902) onto a piece of white card stock.  This adorable penguin is from QKR Stampede, you have seen him before on my blog and I'm sure you will probably see him again.  I love this image, soooooo cute!
Once he was stamped, I applied Broken China Distress Ink with an ink blending tool with a sponge applicator, around the image.  I colored the image with water color pencils.

The other day I was laminating something and had a piece of the laminating film left that had gone through the laminator.  I saved it just in case I had a use for it, I hate throwing away potential crafting items!  The very next day I saw this technique on Tim's blog.

I took that piece of laminating film and ran it through my Cuttlebug in the Snowflakes embossing folder .  I happened to have this piece of laminating film available, but you can do the same with any type of packaging, you know the kind I mean, those clear plastic packages that are so horrible to get into!
Using brads I attached the embossed piece to the tag.

I used a piece of red satin ribbon to make a loop and attached it to the back of the tag with ATG tape, then covered the back with a piece of white card stock.
This would make a very cute tag for a gift, or would be very cute hanging on the Christmas tree.

Thanks for stopping by so I can share my creations with you.  I hope you have enjoyed this tag and may be inspired in some way.  Leave me a comment and let me know what you think, I love feedback!

Until next time, Happy Crafting!

Best Friends Christmas Card

Hello crafty friends!  Today I have an adorable gate fold card to show you.  I used the Best Friends stamp from QKR Stampede for this card and I think it is just a darling image.
I stamped Best Friends onto white card stock and colored it with water color pencils.  I then used a glue pen to add glue to the snowman and covered him with glitter.  The image was then layered onto red card stock.

The card base is a dark blue that I had in my stash, scored and folded into a gate fold card.  I then ran some white card stock through my Cuttlebug with the Snowflakes embossing folder, trimmed and attached it to the 'gates' then attached the image only on the right side of the 'gate'
For the inside of my card, I ran a piece of white card stock through the Cuttlebug with a different snowflake embossing folder.  I can't find this one on the Provocrafts site, it came in a set and it may be a discontinued set, as I don't see any of the ones in that set on their site.

I stamped the Merry Christmas sentiment with another QKR Stampede stamp with Memento Lady Bug Dew Drop Ink.

Thank you for stopping by, I hope you have enjoyed todays project.  Leave me a comment and let me know what you think.

Be sure to stop back tomorrow, I will be participating in the Christmas/Winter Design Team Blog Hop for The QKR Stampede Blog.  You won't want to miss any of the wonderful projects that the design team ladies have to show you.  You are sure to be inspired to make something wonderful too.

Until next time, Happy Crafting!
