Diagonal Stripes With Foil

One of my favorite blogs is 

Jennifer McGuire Ink

where I recently saw this post and 

was inspired to make the card below.

It's very hard to see, but I used silver tape 

for some of the stripes.

I had a very difficult time getting a good photograph

of this card, that tape just reflected and looked black in the

pictures.

So you'll have to use your imagination and imagine that those

dark stripes are the shiny silver that they are.

This picture isn't the best either, but it shows that

they are silver.

Jennifer used a product that is actually made for

crafting, where as I used some silver foil tape that I got

at a hardware store. 

Apparently it is used on ductwork, what do I know?

It works great for crafting.

I love using products that are not necessarily 

made for crafting, but work for it just the same.

Do some wandering around your local hardware

store, you never know what you'll find.

Ireland #26 Bunratty Medieval Banquet

We have come to our last evening in Ireland

Dave and I have been to this beautiful country 3 times

now and every time we have attended the 

Medieval Banquet at Bunratty Castle.

As far as we are concerned it is a must

for every visitor to Ireland.

I'm posting a lot of pictures and a few videos

from this fabulous evening that was a 

great end to our trip.

Dave really has to learn to do better with selfies!

It's hard to get a good picture of him, but a good

selfie is nearly impossible.

This is outside the Bunratty Castle.

The evening starts off with a bagpiper in the courtyard.

After hearing the bagpiper we were taken inside to the big hall 

where we were given a bit of mead, which is a honey wine.

There was music there also. The violinist and harpist were wonderful.

We then went up to the dining hall, where we were treated to more

music from these talented young people.

This young lady is a local high school student and so talented!

This gentleman standing center, was the emcee for the evening.

I'm sure there was a different name for him, but I'm 

not sure what that would be.

We started off with soup, which was very tasty.

But there were no spoons to eat it with, so we had to 

pick up the bowl and enjoy eating it that way.

Not a problem for Dave at all.

A toast to Ireland!

We had fruit juice and water as our drinks with dinner.

The food was "introduced" by course and had to be proclaimed 

fit for the "king"

Everything was served family style on platters.

The ribs were tender and tasty, if a bit on the salty side.

We were given a dagger, but no other utensils.

This gentleman was in trouble and was sent to the 

dungeon. He was accused of being a philanderer.

He had to sing for his supper to get out of the dungeon.

As always, Dave had no problem with finishing up 

what was left on the plate.

The next course also had to be approved.

Jane was ready to have a bit of the next course,

boiled potatoes......

And chicken and root vegetables.

It was all cooked very nicely and tasted great!

They did give us small spoons to use to eat our dessert,

which was a custard with raspberries.

Kind of like a tart and very tasty.

They encouraged couples to feed each other this

tasty treat.

Here all the Celtic Adventurers at our dining table.

We were entertained by the staff, who were all 

fabulous singers and musicians. 

  

To end the night the ladies sang an old favorite

that you can find here.

Unfortunately, this video was too long to post on my

blog, but the link will take you to it on You Tube.

The next morning we were up at an un-Godly hour and off to

the airport to fly home.

We arrived back in the States at the airport in Newark in the early 

afternoon, drove Jane and Michael home and were off for another

5 hour drive to Buffalo and home.

I think our first trip as "tour guides" went very well.

We all had a fabulous time.

We are hoping to do a trip to England next.

Well ladies and gents, this is my final post for our 

Ireland trip 2014.

Little Purse Birthday Card

My Godchild turned 3 recently so 

I wanted to make her a card.

She is a very girlie girl, so a little purse card

was perfect for her.

Inside I stamped Happy Birthday

and made a little flower with my home made 

enamel dots.

Here's a close up of the enamel dot flower.

She loved her card and immediately wanted to put something 

inside it to carry around.

Unfortunately, it was just a card and nothing would stay inside.

So we distracted her with the gift,

fairy wings!

Happy Birthday with Enamel Dots

Last week I posted a tutorial on

Mashed Potatoes and Crafts

on how to make your own enamel dots.

Here is another card that I used some of those 

dots on.

It's a simple card and I think the dots give it a 

nice pop.

They are easy to make and fun to use,

Dinner alone

What do you make for dinner when you are home alone?

Seems there are more nights recently, that I am home

alone for dinner.  I hate making frozen dinners and the sort,

so what's a gal to eat?

Here's one meal that I really enjoy.

Jacket Potatoes!

We first learned about these while traveling in

Great Britain years ago.

They are simple and easy.

Bake a potato, or 2 if they are small.

Break it open and fill it with something tasty.

Tonight I made one filled with tuna mixed with some 

mayo and onion.

I topped it with a bit of corn.

Grind some pepper and it's ready to eat!

It's quick, it's easy and it's tasty.

The possibilities are endless.

How about some chicken salad, or chicken and gravy

maybe some shrimp cooked in garlic butter,

or chipped beef in a cream sauce.

Even some veggies with a bit of butter would be good.

Next time you're looking for a quick and easy meal

give jacket potatoes a try.

Bubble Gum Birthday Card

Hello crafty friends!

Today is my day to post at 

Mashed Potatoes and Crafts.

If you pop over there you'll be able to see my

tutorial on how to make the cute little 

"enamel dots" that I used on this card.

There are lots of ways to use them and I will

be posting more examples in future posts.

For the card today, I decided that I wanted to make a

shaker card.  Shaker cards are all the rage now and I 

had to try one out too.

I came up with the idea of the gum ball machine.

Unfortunately, I didn't think to take pictures along the way

to make a tutorial for this card.

Maybe I'll do that in the future for another post.

I used the enamel dots as gum balls for this card.

And, yes, that is a quarter in the slot on the machine.

I'm dating myself, but I remember when these machines 

took a penny to get a gum ball.

I also decided to put some "gum balls" inside the 

card too.

Zebra Wine Glass

Hello all! 

Here are a couple facts about my daughter.

Other than being the most wonderful daughter I could ask for,

she loves zebra stripes,

she loves purple,

she loves glittery, girly things

and she just had her 25th birthday.

So what do you make for her?

A purple and black, glittered, zebra striped wine glass,

of course.

It was hard to get a really good picture of it,

but here is the best one I could get.

At least it shows the glittery, zebra stripes.

And here is a picture of the birthday girl when 

I gave her the glass.

I was out for breakfast at the pancake house with her

and her boyfriend.

Happy Birthday Baby!
