Cards for the Card Drive #5

Hello!
I hope you had a lovely Thanksgiving and
weekend.
Here are a few more cards that I made for the
card drive.
I wanted to use some of my Christmas scraps
and this was the perfect way to do it.
I love this twine from May Arts,
it worked perfect for this card.
These are the only 3 cards I made this style.
I love the style, but it was a bit more time consuming
and when I planned to make 100 cards,
there wasn't enough time for too many of these.
I do love how they turned out though.

Thanks for stopping in,
see you again soon.

Cards for the Card Drive #4

Hi all you bloggy friends.
Today I have cards that I used a wreath embossing folder
to make.
I started out by testing out the embossing folder to
see how it fit on the front of a card.
Thus I had this white embossed piece,
so I decided to color it.
I just got this Merry Christmas die
from Impression Obsession,
in the mail, so decided to use that for the
sentiment.
Most of the cards I used this lovely shimmery
green card stock for the front panel of the card.
I used some Stickles on the berries.
This is one that I made with a regular green
card stock.
As you can see, I made a 'few' of these.
Love how they turned out.

Thanks for stopping in.
Hope you are enjoying my cards and maybe
getting a little inspired by something here.

Cards for the Card Drive #3

Hello!
More cards for the card drive today
You can see that I love heat embossing.
I heat embossed several ornament images with
silver embossing powder and went from there.
I created several different cards with these
embossed images.
The center one above was fussy cute and adhered
to an embossed card base with foam tape.
The others were matted with card stock and adhered
to embossed silver card stock.
This one has Washi tape on the sides and
although it doesn't show very well, there are
dots of red Stickles around the ornament.
For these I used silver thread and embroidery floss
to add bows.

I like the long skinny ornament at the side of these cards.
A little Washi tape adds a pop of color.
The ornament images are from

Thanks for popping in.
More cards in a few days.

Cards for Card Drive #2

Today I have more cards that I made for the
Caring Hearts Card Drive.
I loved using that snowflake embossing folder
so I made a few different styles using it.
Above the sentiment is stamped with
This is my favorite ink as it gives a nice crisp impression.
The red and white stripes are some Washi tape I had
in my stash.
Same technique used for this card, but the
sentiment was heat embossed in silver.
And a red ribbon was added.

I used a few different sentiments for these cards.

Thanks for stopping in to see my cards,
hope you'll come again soon.

Cards for the Card Drive #1

Hello all!
is near and dear to my heart.
I have been participating for a few years
and this will be the 3rd year that I have the honor of
delivering cards to
Brothers of Mercy Nursing Home and Rehab Center
as well as Sacred Heart Adult Care Home,
where my Mom lives.
I posted some of the cards that I made in
earlier posts and the next several posts will be the
rest of the cards I made.
I set a goal to make 100 cards this year and I ended up
with over 100.
I made several different styles of cards,
I really didn't want to make them all the same
and I also wanted to use supplies that I already had.
Here is the first "installment" of
"Cards for the Card Drive"
For these cards I used silver embossing powder to
heat emboss the ornament and sentiments.
The background panel was embossed with a snowflake
embossing folder.  I then applied Ranger Alcohol Inks to color
the silver card stock.  I believe I used watermelon and cranberry.
For these two cards I embossed the silver card stock,
but didn't apply any alcohol inks.
I heat embossed the sentiment and snowflakes
with silver embossing powder.
I love how they all turned out.
I made several of each style
and I hope the recipients like them.

Thanks for stopping by, come again soon,
to see more of the cards I made for the
card drive.

Autumn Greetings

Happy Autumn!
I'm not crazy about the fall time,
I don't like the cooler weather,
but I do love the colors of fall.
The trees are so beautiful and the leaves on the
ground are so pretty.
The card I have today is kind of a mash up of a
cards that I saw on blogs.
This is kind of how inspiration works for me.
I see different techniques and designs and end up
combining them into something that I like.
For this card, I started with a piece of white card
stock.  I used different colors of Distress Inks to
cover the front of the card stock.
I then found all the leaf stamps that I had,
 and stamped them onto the
colored card with brown Color Box Chalk Ink.
I used 2 rectangle layering dies to cut the
 window in the card.
The outside was adhered to the card base.
The frame was layered with craft foam and card stock
cut with the same dies to give dimension to the frame
around the window.
I used the frame as a guide to adhere the inside piece
to the back of the window.
I used a piece of acetate that was from some packaging
that I saved to cover the frame and adhered the
colored frame piece on top of it.
I used a variety of sequins in the shaker window
as well as a few acorns and leaves that I stamped and fussy
cut.  I then stamped the sentiment and fussy cut that
and adhered it to the front of the shaker area.
For the sentiment inside I used a stamp that I borrowed
from a friend.  Sorry there was no company name anywhere
on the stamp.
Thanks for stopping by today,
I hope you are enjoying the beauty of autumn.
See you again soon.

The supplies I used are:

Wear a Safety Pin

Hello blog friends.
Today I have a post that is different than any I've
ever posted before.
I am not going to discuss politics or the results of our
recent election.
But I would like to say that I am upset, disgusted
and brokenhearted over what has been going on in our
country in the last few days.
Bigotry and hatred has taken hold and it is
being shown and expressed in awful ways.
People are being hurt, insulted, told to get out of
our country, treated badly and some physically injured
only because of who they are.
This needs to stop!
I don't know about you, but I have a very diverse group
of family and friends.
I have friends and family members that are
black, brown, Muslim, gay, bi-sexual, transgender,
immigrants, Asian and more.
The way our society is right now, I fear for them.
We have the greatest country in the world and
NO ONE
should have to be afraid because of their
race, religion, sexual orientation, or anything else
for that matter.
A young lady in England felt the same way when people
were being targeted there after Brexit.
She came up with the idea of wearing a safety pin to
show that you are NOT OKAY with discrimination and hatred.
Wearing a safety pin shows that you stand with those people who
are being targeted. It shows that you are standing up for them
and beside them, that you have their back.
Today I started wearing a pin to show my support.
I offered on Facebook to give one to anyone who needed one
when they saw me.  I kept them in my pocket.
A cousin suggested I print something up to explain
why I was wearing it.
That's what I did.
I made up about a dozen of these and will keep them
in my purse for anyone who wants to show their support
with me.
I encourage you to stand with our fellow Americans
and all people and wear a safety pin.
It's a small gesture to show others that we care.
If you see me and want one, just ask and I'll share
them with you.
Thanks for stopping by today.
I hope you'll stand up for others with me.

MMFS

Hello y'all!
I hope you're having a lovely day.
Today I'm showing you a little bag that I
"made" for my friend.
I was going to visit and wanted to take
her a little something and thought this
bag would be perfect for her.
MMFS are her initials, to put them on the
bag I found a font that I liked for her
and used it to make a stencil with some acetate.
and my Silhouette Cameo to make the stencil.
on the back of the stencil to be sure it didn't move while
I was working.
Now I have to say, I've had this glue for a while
and although it worked great, it sure didn't spritz.
I had to paint it onto the stencil, which worked fine.
I positioned the stencil and covered it with
While the paste was still wet, I covered it
with pink and purple glitter.
I did find that the glitter didn't stick as
well as I expected.
 I used
to stamp most of the images and the
sentiment, the "flowers" were stamped with
white ink.
The sentiment says
"Smile
you're my best friend
and there's nothing you can do about it"
which is from the Sassy Smiles Stamp Set
The "flowers" are from
The zigzag stripes are from
All these stamps are from
The "person" and hat are from
by Dyan Reaveley
I thought it looked more like a woman,
so I colored it as such.
The small images on the front of the bag
are random stamps that I found in my stash.
Once I had stamped the images I used my
to color them.
Did you know that you could color on canvas
with colored pencils?
You can, just start with a light hand
and color in layers.  You can see that it works beautifully.
My only worry is that it may wear off.
I didn't use fixative on this one, but will
give it a try to be sure it doesn't damage the
canvas in any way.
If that works I'll have Mary spray hers with a
fixative to be sure it doesn't rub off at all.
I know she has some in her craft room.
Here is a closer picture of the initials,
glitter on embossing paste.
I think she liked this bag and I'm sure she'll
find a use for it, what crafter can't use a little bag like
this one?
I have more of these canvas bags in different colors
and sizes and I'm sure I'll be making up some more as
gifts for Christmas.

Thanks for stopping in today,
I hope you've been inspired in some way
or learned something.
Come again soon,
you never know what you'll find on

Give Thanks

Hello!
I hope you're having a wonderful day!
Today I have a Thanksgiving card to show you.
The other day I was trying something new that didn't
work out for me and I had a few of these pumpkins,
so I decided to make a Thanksgiving card with one
of them.  This is what I came up with.
I cut the pumpkin and the vine/leaf
from some paper that I had in my stash
using a die and the Cuttlebug.
I used a bit of Distress Ink to tone down
the orange and white of the pumpkin
and give the leaf etc. a little variation,
then I glued the pieces together.
The striped panel is a scrap I had in my stash.
The "Give Thanks" is part of the
Give Thanks stamp
(#34109) from Biblical Impressions
The entire stamp reads
"Give Thanks
to the Lord"
I masked off the part that I didn't
want to stamp before I inked up the stamp,
removed the mask and then stamped directly onto
the card with
The card needed a little something more,
so I added some bronze colors sequins
I left the inside of this card blank for the time being.
I may stamp a Thanksgiving message or write
a personal note when I use this card.

I'm glad you stopped in today.
Come again soon,

Card Drive Cards

 Hi all!
Today I thought I'd show you some more of the
Christmas cards I made for the
Caring Hearts Card Drive.
You can find all the information about this
wonderful drive on
All the cards from this drive are sent to
residents of nursing homes and senior care facilities.
I made several of the same cards.
Once the stamps are set up in my
MISTI stamping tool, it is simple
to make several at one time.
I was inspired by Julia Altermann
to make this card.
I set up the stamps on my MISTI,
then removed the star stamp.
I stamped all the sentiments with
I then re-positioned the star stamp,
removed the other stamps and
stamped the stars with
and heat embossed them with
I glued a few small star sequins
around  for a little more sparkle and
tied "bakers twine"
that I made, around the panel and
tied a bow to finish it off.
See how I made it on
I accidentally got some black ink smudges
on this panel, but went with my motto
"There are no mistakes in crafting,
only opportunities to be more creative"
and I cut the panel down, adhered it to the
card front and added a bow at the top.
It's a little different than the others, but just
as nice, don't ya think?

Thanks for stopping in.
I hope you've been inspired in some way
and I hope you'll join in the
Caring Hearts Card Drive
and help bring smiles to the faces
of some of our seniors.

Until next time,
have some fun crafting!

Coloring pad

Today I have something a little bit different to show you.
I often go to the craft stores just to walk around
and believe it or not, I often don't buy a single thing.
But every now and then I find something fun on clearance.
This was one of those finds.
I found this pad of 6x6" foiled paper on
clearance for only $1.79
There are 9 designs and 2 of each.
They are just gorgeous.
For that price, how could I go wrong?
They also had 12x12" pads that are prints like this
to color, printed in black and I picked one of them
up also for only $5.99.
I'm sure I'll be posting something about that one
day also.
But for now, I'll show you this gold foiled paper.
I colored this page with my watercolor crayons.
This picture shows the entire page,
although you can see it is cut at the right side,
as I forgot to take a picture before making the
card with it.
Here is the completed card.
I simply cut the piece to size and adhered it
to a white card base with ATG tape.
I decided to leave it with no sentiment
as a plain note card, I thought a sentiment
would take away from the beautiful design.
Here is another of the pages that I colored.
I haven't decided what I will do with this one yet.
I may use it on a scrapbook layout, or make a
card with it.
I'll be sure to post what I end up doing with it.
I haven't been able to find anywhere to link
these beautiful paper pads for y'all.
I got mine at Michael's,
but can't find any online.
Sorry about that.
They had other products in this line also,
craft tape, tags, journals, other coloring pads
and more,
they were all beautiful,
you might be lucky and find some at your
local Micheal's if you are interested in checking
them out.
Good luck.

Thanks for stopping in today.
I hope you have been inspired in some way,
maybe just to do a little coloring,
or maybe make a card with something you've
already colored.
Come again soon.
Until then,
have some fun!
