Ornaments for Anthony and Andrea

Hi everyone!

I hope you've been having a wonderful 

holiday season.

Today I'd like to show you a couple

ornaments I made for some special kids.

My great niece and God daughter Andrea

loves unicorns, so I found a couple patterns

online, combined them and created this one for her.

It was really quite easy, but those eyelashes

were tough.  I tried several different 

ways to make them and they just didn't work out.

I finally was at a craft store and found some 

yarn that is a kind of eyelash yarn.

It's actually intended to be used to make

scrubby dish clothes, but it worked perfect for 

unicorn eyelashes.

Andrea's older brother is a big

Harry Potter fan, so I crochet him this

"Snitch"  I found this pattern on the internet

and it was quick and easy.

I try to make them an ornament every year

connecting with what their interests are at 

that time.  One day they will have a tree 

of their own filled with memories from their 

childhood.

Ornaments

Hello crafty people!

Today I have some ornaments to show you.

I made these for my family this

Christmas. Each "family unit" received one.

We also had a ornament exchange with 

our scrapbooking/crafting group and

I decided that I would give one of these 

for that.

When I had to clean out my Aunt Marilyn's

apartment, when she went into a nursing home,

I found an old dresser scarf that I'm pretty sure

her Mom crocheted.

It had some torn spots, but I didn't want to

get rid of it, so I brought it home with me.

I took the pieces apart and made these ornaments

with the crocheted circles.

Everything else came from my stash in my

craft room, so every ornament is different.

I used chip board coasters for the base,

some were covered with

Indian Gold

 Nuvo Embellishment Mousse

These darker ones were covered with 

Firebird Art Alchemy Metallique Wax

I made the flower on this one with a 

scrap of fabric and colored it with 

some of the Nuvo paste.

This flowers and the other ones this

style, I made using Washi tape.

Some of them have buttons from

my button box, like this gold flower button.

Some have charms and this one

has some actual wool which I 

brought back from one of our trips to the

UK. I found it along a fence that was 

around a pasture for the sheep.

I absolutely LOVE how these turned out

and my family loved them too.

I still have plenty of the crochet circles left,

so I'm sure I'll be coming up with another way 

to use them.

They make a wonderful memory of some

family history for me.

Christmas Cards

Hello and Merry Christmas!

I hope you're having a wonderful holiday season, 

whatever holiday you celebrate.

I'm so far behind with my posts,

but I wanted to share my Christmas cards with you.

This is the card we sent out to our family and friends.

Our first grandchild was born in November, so we wanted

to share a picture with everyone.

These cards are pretty simple to make and the card bases

 are made from one sheet of 8.5 x 11 card stock. 

I made these cards from some backgrounds that I had

 in my stash.

When I saw a video from Mike Deakin

on YouTube and he made some like these,

I had to use some of my stash to make some.

These are my "back up" cards for anyone my hubby

decides needs a card that I hadn't sent to.

I love how they turned out.

Once I had made the cards above, I took it a 

step further and made these also.

For the backgrounds on all of them,

I used black card stock and flicked 

white craft paint onto it to make the snow.

Then added the trees,

I love them all and may just be using this 

idea for next years cards.

Swap Round 2 #2 Snowmen

Hi crafty fans!

My scrappy group of friends just finished 

our #2 Swap for this round.

The theme was snowmen.

Here is my project.

I started with some aluminum foil

that I shaped into a snowman's head.

I wish I had thought to take pictures of the

process, but I totally forgot.

All I did was tear up some news paper

and dip it in a mixture of flour and water.

I layered it onto the foil head and let it dry.

It took a couple layers, as I wanted to be sure it

was good and strong.
I then painted the head with craft paints.

For the collar, I accordion folded a page 

from an old book and painted it with

a cream colored paint, I then glued it into

a circle to create the collar.
I used gold paint to add a bit of color to the 

collar.  The head was adhered with 

Fabri-Tac adhesive and I added a simple bow

to dress him up a little bit.

For his hat, I used a small container from 

diabetic test strips, covered

it with black card stock and glued it to a brim.

The box is a square jewelry box that I had

in my craft room.

I painted it with gold paint, then used some 

distressink to "grunge" it up a bit.

I then covered the

whole thing with Mod Podge.

I think he turned out very cute and I hope

my friend likes him as much as I do.

Texture

Hi crafty people!

Welcome to my blog.

Today I'm showing you a piece that I made 

following a prompt on
Nina Ribina's Art Journal Prompts and More

on facebook.

The theme was texture and I think I captured that

with this piece.

I used a piece for the background from my 

stash. I believe I crumpled up dampened

 black card stock, and then used either a mica 

spray or powder on it.  The picture doesn't 

show the shine on that background piece.
I then used 

Brea Reese Matte Metallic Texture Paste

through a stencil to create the texture along the side.

I didn't have to color fibers that I wanted so used a bit 

of  shimmery water colors to change their color,

then added the little glass heart at the bottom and

adhered it with Fabri-Tac.

To finish it off I adhered a button from my

button box to to the ribbon.

I love how this turned out,

it's different from anything I've ever done

before and I think this needs to be framed and hung 

in my craft room.

Collage, Outside My Box

Hello!

I've been trying to do some different kinds of arts 

and crafts recently.

I joined a facebook group called

Nina Ribina's Art Journal Prompts and More

and have been watching a lot of her videos on 

YouTube.  I have been inspired to try some different

things and go outside my usual box.

I decided to give collage a try and this is what I

made.  I used a background from my 

stash that I made and added pieces that

I thought coordinated well. 
I like how this turned out and had a lot of

fun making it.

Card Drive

Hello crafty friends!

Today I'm showing you a couple cards I made

for a card drive.

These are for a non profit called

Live Like Roo

they help people who have dogs with cancer.

They are in need of cards to send as encourangment,

sympathy and thanks.

These are the 2 that I made.

I stamped "Dorky Bird" with 

VersaFine Onyx Black Ink

and colored it with colored pencils.

This image was stamped and colored the way as the 

card above.  The image is

"Party Poopers"
